The NYT says Mark Felt has died. No link yet.

He's on deep background.

I know people have differing views on what he did and some of his other activities with the FBI, but a final farewell to one of the most enduring mysteries of the 20th Century.

No disrespect intended, but there are a lot of RIPs on this board.

I thought it really was a d_b, considering Linda Lovelace has been dead for years.....carry on.

Without looking at a link or anything, wasn't he about 94 or 95? So at the least, he lived a long and interesting life.

RIP, Mr. Felt.

What surprised me most about that was hearing that Bernstein had never met him. I know Woodward had all of the communications but I would have thought that after all the **** was done going down that he would have met him at some point.

Thanks for the link, Dan. Great story.

Here's the great first-person account Woodward wrote when Felt confirmed his identity in 2005: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/01/AR2005060102124.html

And the story of Bernstein's first -- and only -- meeting with "Deep Throat" just last month: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20081120/NEWS/811200327/1348/NEWS09?Title=A__Deep_Throat__reunion

And, of course, the Vanity Fair article itself: http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2005/07/deepthroat200507

For some reason, I thought he died, like, last year or something. And yes, he was an American hero.
