Oh, the pills do more than an adequate job of blowing everything out of your colon. I thought you took 1 or 2 pills the afternoon before, and 1 or 2 about 6-7 hours before.

Oh no, it's 12 pills, both times. It still sucks, just not quite as bad. The person who invents the colonoscopy equivalent of Bounty - "the quicker cleaner-outer!" - will be a gizzionaire.

FDA approves blood test to screen for colon cancer

My primary care physician has been following the progress of this diagnostic blood test for several years now and we have talked about it several times. He thinks this should be done by everyone starting at age 40 and repeated at least every 2 or 3 years. He thinks continued research and development will increase the test sensitivity.

Sign me up for this test instead of a colonoscopy the next time the calendar says it is my turn. (November 2028).

Thanks in large part to this thread I made my appointment this morning. Up the butt day is Sept. 17.

T-minus 32 hours and counting.
3pm buttscope scheduled for tomorrow. Gulping of the drain-o starts this afternoon.

The hour or so you will be knocked out will be your best hour of the week. Deep, peaceful sleep.

Had one several months ago. The prep is awful, but once that is over the procedure is a piece of cake. And if the nursing/OR room staff at your place are as great as the ones at mine were, you will sail right through this thing and be home in about two hours.

I took the pills instead of drinking the goo. Much nicer.

Had mine a week ago today. I was overdue and had thoroughly freaked myself out that they would find something bad, but it all went well.

Agree with the above comments. The sleep is wonderful and the pills are better than the Gatorade From Hell for your prep.

The high point for me was driving through the Starbucks across the street from the doctor's office once the procedure was done. My wife chatted with the worker at the window while I sat in the passenger seat, farting loudly and horribly.
