Surprised the Big 12 is getting as much love from the committee as they are with Utah and BYU not far behind Texas Tech. It's not like the Big 12 has a non-conference win it can hang its hat on. The conference is looking like a one-bid conference in any event, Right now it looks like the team that misses out on the Big 12 championship game will get into the playoff. I don't think the committee wants six SEC teams and just three big 10 teams.

I know we've mentioned it already but is it just one of those years? There's only 22 p4 programs with fewer than three losses and there's still three weeks to go. There's not that many options unless you wanna **** people off and put like seven three-loss teams in the top 25

There are a lot of teams who have benefitted from soft schedules in all of the conferences. You could cut the playoff to the top 6 and I don't think you would get many complaints.

I’m still not sold on the SEC getting more than 4 in.
If by chance it does get more, then you can bet the field gets extended. It’s not a good overall look to have potentially half the teams from the SEC get in a 12-team “tournament “.

I was talking to a couple of folks yesterday who are in the know about a coach who is sort of on the hot seat - that depends on how his season ends - and the mess that is college football coaching this year is what might actually save his job. That, and his buyout with the university already making budget cuts across the board.
