Well, in theory, we already got started last Saturday when Eastern Washington beat Sam Houston on the Red Menace in Cheney. Having one running thread for the whole season is ridiculous.

Best games o' the week:
THURSDAY
Texas A&M at South Carolina
Boise State vs. Ole Miss

FRIDAY
Villanova at Syracuse (upset alert)

SATURDAY
Penn State vs. UCF (volcano alert)
UCLA at Virginia (Mike London ****ting himself alert)
North Dakota State at Iowa State (Bison win all their FBS games alert)
West Virginia vs. Alabama
Clemson at Georgia
Florida State vs. Oklahoma State
Wisconsin vs. LSU

MONDAY
Miami at Louisville

Why for me? My gripe is the absence of the point spreads. Get your **** together, Cosmo!

Florida State v. Oklahoma State could be wildly entertaining.

West Virginia v. Alabama may be closer than you think.

Wisky v. LSU just seems like a 8-6 final is in store here.

WTF is Wisconsin doing playing LSU? They're the kings of the cupcake. And with Braxton Miller out, it's the kind of year they could actually get to the finish line undefeated.

Thought that was 2016?

You're right.

Arkansas at Auburn is a decent opener, if for no other reason than to see how long Nick Marshall sits. Malzahn has said only that he "won't start," which brings to mind the classic 1987 incident involving the same Auburn Tigers.

Starting quarterback Jeff Burger was arrested for having a handgun under his car seat over the summer, and Pat Dye said Burger would not start the season-opener against Texas. Sophomore Reggie Slack started the game and fumbled on the first play. Burger then trotted onto the field and played the rest of the game.

Funny that you mention Utah State -- a guy just walked into the gallery wearing a Utah State hat.

"Is that a Utah State hat?" I asked.

He looked stunned. "You're the first person in a long time to ask if this is Utah State."

A Utah State hat in Vermont. I don't think I've ever seen a Utah State hat. I'm taking Utah State +6.

But I would've taken that anyway because of Chuckie.

I like your upset pick, Steak. Didn't South Alabama put a scare into the Vols last year in Knoxville, too?

Like your A&M pick, too. I may even throw down on that moneyline.

I didn't pick the Aggies. I'm actually kind of down on A&M this year.

Assuming Mike Davis is full-speed, I think the Gamecocks run it down their throat.

And yeah, Tennessee needed an end zone interception to hold off South Alabama last year.

I added the jim-dashes and picks. Probably should've bolded them for emphasis.

And by Aggies, I meant Texas A&M.

The Utah State Aggies upset pick is mine.

Multiple Aggie confusion.

C'mon, Sonner, make it an Aggie-Aggie double. Ten bucks'll get you twenty.

5dimes has lines for the FBS-FCS games. Syracuse is a 14 1/2-point fave at home on the Cats, who have a really dangerous dual-threat quarterback on John Robertson. Thanks for the lines, Snake. Didn't have time to go through and get them all this morning.
