Just saw it, and it was awesome.

That's got to be a joke.
This movie is bad. I mean 'The Postman' bad, 'The Road to Wellville' bad, 'Van Helsing' bad.

It can't possibly be Van Helsing bad. For the budget and talent involved, that is as bad as any film can ever be.

I raise you Last Kiss, the single most disappointing film I have seen in a long time.

And I saw Cloverfield this afternoon, it wasn't bad, it wasn't great.
I will say that it was the quietest I had heard a theater in a long time. No one got up, no one talked, everyone just watched the screen. When it ended, it was like the crowd took a collective exhale.
If you like movies with a plot, a resolution, an explanation of what is going on, you won't like it. But it is a very original piece of filmmaking.

1. I don't think 'Cloverfield' was original. It simply takes some ideas as explored in 'Blair Witch' and 'Series 7' and transfers them to a monster-destroys-the-city movie without adding anything new.

B. I'm a Kate Beckinsale fan, but 'Van Helsing' was still terrible.

I saw it Saturday evening. Nothing great, but it's not bad.

I could definitely see this movie having a sequel, prequel or another movie from a different camera point of view. If you notice Marmaduke (er, that's his character on Carpoolers, so I mean Hudd) filming on the bridge, he pans over and another guy is filming. I guess that could be an opening to another one.

To those of you who paid close attention, or maybe just randomly caught it, did you see the object splash into the ocean at the end? Right near the cruise ship? It was just after the camera froze, and before it cut back to Rob and Hottie saying "it was a good day" while they were at Coney Island. Rob was pointing the camera out toward the ocean and the object splashed.

That also leaves open an opportunity for another movie. Without getting into too much nerdness, apparently part of that viral marketing scheme was a Japanese company -Tagruato- that lost a satellite into the Atlantic about a month before the monster emerged. Did what fell in the ocean have something to do with the monster?

Wow! I just saw this movie the moment I left the theatre I started calling people. First, I called my little brother to tell him I just saw it. Then I told him, "avoid that movie at all cost. it ****in sucked."

In extra nerdiness, Tagruato is the parent company of Slusho, and the brother was wearing a Slusho short and interweb nerds say that Slusho was the company in Japan he was leaving for.
And Slusho is flavored with something called seabed nectar.

I heard those clips, too. A buddy of mine saw the movie, and actually liked it, but he had completely missed the audio.
