Just saw this in a Yahoo story, and I love it:

It’s not entirely clear whether Sam Darnold is the league’s best bad quarterback or its worst good quarterback.

Kirk Cousins raises his hand. Brock Purdy says hey.

And I wouldn't take Aaron Rodgers over any of those guys.

Wait you're not comparing/equating Darnold to Purdy are you?

Purdy takes care of the ball better than Darnold and produces under pressure better (he twice led the 49ers to points to be in position to win in the SB).

You could probably even throw Jared Goff in that group too. He can play great for long stretches, but when he drops a turd, you're in trouble. Not unlike Mahomes.

Now Goff and Mahomes are comparable. You’re on a roll.

I think I'd like to have a pissed-off Aaron Rodgers with something to prove as my QB. I hope he ends up in Vegas. Better than a possibly "Post-midnight Cinderella" which Darnold may be, or a going through the motions to collect a check Cousins.

I think I would go a full season running an offense out of the Wildcat before I signed Aaron Rodgers.
Please no more Wildcat, might as well run the Veer.

What the Wildcat exposed was simply that the DCs were asleep because why would you keep two safeties 10 yds back with Tom Brady split out wide? Um maybe crowd the line of scrimmage or at least bring 8 in the box?

Wasn't suggesting the Wildcat was good or smart.

Just saying I'd rather do that than have the desiccated remains of Aaron Rodgers anywhere near my team.

I’d happily take Rodgers on a one-year deal with the Titans, mostly because it keeps them from wasting the top pick this year and sets them up nicely to draft a better one in 2026. But it would also assure Brian Callahan goes 2-and-que as a head coach, so they won’t do it.

The problem with Rodgers going to a bad team like Tennessee is that he willl use it as an opportunity to hijack the franchise to hire some of his friends. Vegas would be interesting, but Pete Carroll probably isn't putting up with his ****. If he was going that route, might a well sell himself to Pittsburgh and at least play with a fringe playoff team. Maybe Tomlin will let him throw 35 back shoulders a game.

The worst part is that Tomlin and Rodgers seem to share a mutual admiration, which could lead to him ending up in Pittsburgh. Rodgers has lost much of his ability to avoid the pass rush, which was a problem with a Jets team that couldn't protect him last season. The Steelers are no better. Their line was a problem and they are likely to lose their left tackle to free agency. At least the Jets had weapons. The Steelers don't have much for Rodgers to throw to other than Pickens. Maybe that ends up being a feature rather than a bug if Adams comes as part of a package deal, but that eats up a lot of cap space for a temporary solution that is likely to fail.

A buddy of mine who is also a Steelers fan texted me when he read about the rumors of Rodgers to Pittsburgh. He wrote that it would be a mistake of grave proportions. He wrote that Rodgers is "a cancer, and I don't say that lightly." My friend is a two-time cancer survivor.

Good news for Steelers fans is that many of the ones from Westmoreland, Beaver and Butler counties share the same political views as Rodgers so they'd have that bond at least.

As a Jets fan, I guess that means I am, too.

My hot take: Jimmy Haslam asking for $1.2 billion of public funding to move the team’s stadium out of the city after the Desean Watson debacle is as bad as anything Art Modell ever did.

And does he think people in Cleveland can afford PSL’s? There will be empty seats out the wazoo.

49ers are reportedly "exploring" a sale of up to 10 percent of the team

The DeBartolo Family bought the Niners in 1977 for $13m, (which in today's dollars is about $177m). But the actual VALUE of the Niners today? $9 Billion with a BIG ASS B. So yeah, the owners are making crazy money. I don't know if the minority ownership stakes are to help with estate planning, or just to get a big chunk of cash. I just am curious what a minority stake in an NFL team gets you for the millions you have to pony up for a small slice. Sure you probably get a great seat at all the games, and maybe you wet your beak for a majority stake of a team somewhere down the line - but dang. $900m is a lot to ask when that is the last time you will consider that person's opinion on anything. (Tom Brady excepted, of course).
