Bonino to Nashville

Sharp back to Chicago

Shattenkirk to the Rangers

Alzner to Montreal

Daley to Detroit

Justin Williams to Carolina

Caps' big moves were re-signing Oshie and Orlov, but that doesn't leave them a lot of wiggle room for much else, due to cap space. Priority is on re-signing RFAs Burakovsky and Kuznetsov.

The people reporting it may have jumped the gun on Shattenkirk to the Rangers from things I have read. But supposedly, he might be willing to take less to play in NY. He was still weighing options. If it happens, the Derek Stepan trade isn't so bad. They will have cleared the cap space for Shattenkirk and gotten a top 10 draft pick and another serviceable defenseman out of it.

I think the Caps will regret that Oshie deal in 3 or 4 years. But that is tradeoff for going for it now.

I like keeping Oshie. I don't like the length of the deal. At least he has some prime left, unlike Orpik, who got five years when he was clearly on the backside of his career.

Shattenkirk left a boat load of money on the table. He gave the Rangers no choice. He was probably looking at close to $50 million for 7 year deal and instead took a 4 year deal for less money per year. I guess he really wanted to be in NY.

Sucks to see Justin Williams go. Sucks more to see him go to a team that the Caps play 4-5 times a year in the Metro.

Sharks keep Thorton, lose Marleau to Leafs.

Sharks offered two years and Leafs gave him 3. San Jose's offer was probably more realistic for where Marleau is at but can't blame him for wanting to keep going. My Facebook feed is full of gnashing of teeth and rendering of garments at the moment.

McLellan wasn't kidding when he said it was a two-year window. Some youngins are going to have to step up and play significant roles next year. I don't think they'll be challenging for the President's Trophy again. I'm OK with that, TBH.
