The first Goldman I ever read was the Butch and Sundance screenplay. I picked it up, glanced at it, bought it. It's absolutely wonderfully written.

If you have not read his Adventures in the Screen Trade, you should. He did a lot of screen doctoring late in life, mostly uncredited.

Goldman claimed that dialog was one of the least important parts of film. Funny this came from a man who wrote so many indelible bits of film dialogue.

"You fool, the fall will probably kill you!"

I bought "The Princess Bride" when it hit the shelves. I then tracked the rumors of a movie being made for fifteen years, and Goldman finally got it made, bless him. He broke one of Hollywood's most sacred rules to do it - he put his own money into a film he was making. Thank god he did. A true classic. So many quotable lines in one film.
