We're going to do the honeymoon at least a week after the wedding. We want to go to New York, including Cooperstown.

NY is a good time, but that ****'s expensive.

I highly recommend a high-end cruise. All the absolutely wonderful food you can eat, decent places to see, really great food, a lot of unexpected cool **** on the newer boats and some outstanding food. We were hesitant about doing it, wasn't sure what to expect, yada, yada, yada. Wouldn't trade that trip for anything now. In fact, we're looking at hitting another for our five-year anniversary in a couple months. Did I mention the good food?

Honestly, we'll only spend a day or two in NYC. Cooperstown is definitely the highlight of the trip-to-be. Also, Niagara Falls.

I think where you're losing me is the trip to Cooperstown. Just does nothing for me.

I know that's blasphemy to some here, but it just doesn't interest me in the least. I've been and ... ah, hell, I'm not gonna rag on the place based on nothing more than my opinions when you're planning your honeymoon around it.

Go, have a good time, all the best to you and yours.

I'll be in the floating casino, killing time before the filet mignon and lobster dinner.

I'll have to disagree with dog.

I have told everyone I've ever met to make it to Cooperstown at least once in their lives.

I don't know if five days is the right amount, but definitely don't leave the next day.

If you're having people come in from out of town, you probably want to have a brunch or something with them the morning after the wedding. Then, it's traditional to "open the gifts brought to the wedding" with the immediate families.

We're leaving late on Monday afternoon for our HM.

We may come home for a couple weeks, get things settled, and then go. We could wait and go for HOF weekend at the end of July.

All I know is the lead post in this thread should not include the Good Doc allegedly signing up for the registery. I went on one trip to the store to help and was bored out of my mind within an hour and quickly got out of the rest of it. I liked opening the gifts, but I didn't feel like spending hours on finding the exact right color of plates and linens.

As far as cool gifts to register I would agree with the poster earlier to put things like golf balls or clubs or other sports-related items on there. Also, beer mugs and wine glasses were something the younger crowd at my wedding liked to buy us. We also upgraded a lot of our kitchen stuff, like coffee pot and pots and pans. Also, if you like to camp, you can clean up on things like tents, lanterns, backpacks and stoves.

It defeats the purpose of "honeymoon" if buckweaver is sleeping on the floor of your hotel room! :D

Yeah, I'd be super pissed if buckdub cockblocked me on my honeymoon.

We did one registry together (via online at about 2 a.m. one morning), but my mom and I did the other registry.

She still curses my fiance's name at the thought of having to follow me around the Herald Square Macy's as I picked out crap. In fact, she always has me remind him that he owes her for that.

I was in the doghouse for a while after that. I didn't even have the excuse that it was football season or anything, because it was actually summer and work was slow. But a guy has to do what a guy has to do when it comes to shopping for stuff in the house.

Cooperstown on the honeymoon? NO!

NYC is very good idea if you're not from around here.

Seriously though, tropical islands, sun, beach, warm weather, romance.

Cooperstown is where you go to hang out, not on a ****ing honeymoon!

And I repeat, CASH!!!

I think I gotta agree with spnited on this.

You can spend the same amount of money and be on the beach/in the pool/at the bar at an all-inclusive in Mexico or the Bahamas.

Cash is the gift that keeps on giving. You can use the cash to buy a house, buy a car, or just have it for a rainy day.

There are no drawbacks to cash.

My MOH asked for only Target gift cards and they had their groceries paid for for almost a year.
