Slate says Florio worked for a brief time for ESPN, but didn't like their editorial oversight.

In the past, would Florio have been the kind of person a journalist would have used as a contact to help explain things? Now that person sees if he's good enough he can voice his opinions himself through the web and even make some cash off them.
