I graduated from college last weekend.

The fiancee graduated from college this weekend.

At the future Mrs. Sneed's graduation dinner, I say, "Man, it's weird, we're all graduated and grown up and stuff. We're not college kids anymore."

Without missing a beat, the future father-in-law says, "Yeah, now you're just unemployed."

Found that funny, felt like sharing. That is all.

You should have told him you already had the inside edge on an executive position -- President of Shaggin' Your Daughter. [/ Leon from Curb]

Not really much of a punchline. In the light of layoffs, etc.; I was merely kidding that, if someone were to tell me that I'm nothing more than just another person to add to the list of those unemployed, I'd be pretty upset by it.

Sure, it's reality, but I'm not telling him to literally go drink himself stupid.

No, I'm good with that part. Perfectly good advice. But the word is "cue."

Yes, I now just realized it. ;D

But to add something to this thread, I couldn't have felt more in your situation more when I graduated last year, Sneed. I got home, sat down and turned on my laptop to start searching for jobs and thought, "Wow, I'm no longer in college anymore. I actually have to start looking for a job."

It was a scary realization when I looked back on it and put my best four years of my life into perspective.

I graduated on a Saturday and started working on Monday.

Couldn't stand the thought of being unemployed

I did the same. And really, I started the job part-time a few weeks before graduation. That was kind of nuts.

I wish I could have been that lucky, or rather, smart.

I stayed at home and sent resumes morning till night hoping I'd get that sweet newspaper gig. After two months of no luck, I gave up and just found a job nearby to bring in some income.
