Congrats to the five above for making this year's SportsJournalists.com All-Newbie team.

Voting ends exactly 7 days from the time of this post (roughly 5:45 PM ET, Jan. 2, 2007).

In addition, congratulations to these newbs who earned All-Newbie Honorable Mention status:

Perhaps you were too prolific.

We all like fast women. We just don't want to bring them home to meet our mothers.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the votes. :)

If not for Douglas, there might not be an operational SportsJournalists.com. I think my vote will go in that direction.

That's a good point. But in true newsroom fashion, I'll ignore functionality.

Re: SportsJournalists.com AWARDS POLL: Newbie of the Year

Random thought -- have we ever had someone who posts under a name and under an alias, be nominated under newb of the year and SportsJournalists.com member of the year? just wondering. obviously -- i guess the moderators are the only ones who really know (right? no?) .. just a thought-provoking question.

Re: SportsJournalists.com AWARDS POLL: Newbie of the Year

The crypticness of that post makes it the leader in the clubhouse for 2007 post of the year.

As an editor, I feel it is my duty to point out that crypticness is probably not a word.

On the other hand, what would the correct word be? Crypticity? Crypticality?

What's a battle?

If it was correct, it wouldn't be poloponies...

And I thought that I still qualified...slowest to 500!

Um ... there's no crypticality to it ... bottom line --> i think there's someone who could be a newb of the year as well as listed on the SportsJournalists.com member of the year teams, too. meaning ... they're the SAME person. :)

I say "could" because I'm not totally sure, it's just a solid, semi-educated hunch. But, I wanted to throw it out there as fodder in the event we (the collective, voting public otherwise known as SportsJournalists.com) really care. {I don't care, because I know and feel many folks post under multiple names but wondered if anyone did care?}

Re: SportsJournalists.com AWARDS POLL: Newbie of the Year

So, I am assuming the only reason I made honorable mention was because I voted for myself. Also, since this is only the second "award" I've won in this business, can I put it on my resume?
