Saw: Part V

Tobin Bell is great. Something about the way he is so calm and calculating with that soft-spoken voice makes him more terrifying than if he were a screaming psycho.

After seeing the third one, I wanted to go scrub my eyes and my brain for about 20 minutes. I felt ****ed up for about an hour after I left the theater. Which probably explains why I haven't seen IV.

You say that after all the Saw movies. If you have any intention on seeing 5, you have to see saw 4.

I love these movies. Can't get enough of them. I'll probably re-watch 3 and 4 before I see 5. I do agree with the others that said the first one is the best. There's no question. The opening scene of 4 was a little unexpected, though.

There's a scene in IV toward the end with that Walberg dude that is the best (you know what) in all of the movies.

Best Buy (hi, Tommy D!) had a three-pack DVD with Saw I, II and III on sale for 15 bucks once.

I may have to go see if it's still on sale and pick up Saw IX, too.

It's OK Jelly, I know why you shop there. I wouldn't drive two hours out of the way either. And that's a good deal, until they end up selling the four pack for $20 next year.

As a Lightning follower, I'd appreciate if as many people as possible went out and bought the DVD's and saw the movie in theaters.

The Lightning's new owner, Oren Koules, is the producer of all of them, and they need the money for some defensemen.

Must be why Olaf Kolzig is wearing this mask in his next game:

You've won enough for one year, haven't you? :D

Hadn't seen them, bought the first four at a used DVD place for a total of $16, loved every second of them and felt that each one was better than the previous one.

Re-watched 3 and 4 this past weekend to make sure I'm all caught up on the storyline, etc.

I'm pumped for Saw 5. Very interested to see where the plot goes with the corrupt cop.

Yeah, but at the current pace, the Bolts are only going to win 14 games this season.

Totally agree. I'm curious to see how they'll carry on this mind**** spree with John Kramer's aka Jigsaw's death. They got away with it in 4 because that overlapped with 3 and did some flashbacks where it exposed Kramer's past. The best part of 4 is that you have no idea it overlaps until the end. So who knows where they'll take 5? That's the beauty of these movies.

Just got home from Saw V.

HO-LEE ****.

Best of them all.

I'm not EVEN putting any spoilers in here, but I will say emphatically.

HO-LEE ****.

It was the second-best of the series.

Awful acting, especially Costas Mandylor. They did a nice job tying together the entire series (especially the last two films) while at the same time washing the slate clean for the next part. Great ending.

Entire movie was totally unrealistic, but hey, so is Star Trek.

Personally, nothing will top the first one, but this one was right on the doorstep. Solid movie. Great opening scene, as usual. Fantastic ending. And everything in between helped explain a lot of things and did a lot in getting people ready for the next movie.

Oct. 2009 can't get here soon enough.

Sort of Saw related...

I was traveling on a toursit bus in Cuba and Saw was the movie was playing on the monitors. I imagine it was a DVD that a traveler on the bus happened to have but wow, talk about a reaction from people on the bus.

The driver was screamed at by a German couple for what seemed like 5 minutes straight for putting the movie on.

Personally I don't like horror/gore movies but I found the premise pretty interesting and the movie very entertaining.

Surprised you all like it. What I liked about the franchise was the idea of bad people being given the choice to change and go against their nature.
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT
However, none of the people really had a chance in this to do anything but die. i thought it was creative how they changed the concept of the other movies and made it all fit. And kinda cool how they set things up for yet another movie.
But, this completely abandons the premise established in the first three movies. I left the movie thinking that the first three movies likely have the same writers, and the final two were someone new, and I was right.
Doubt I continue with the series.

I watched the movie on Friday. I went in with somewhat lowered expectations. After all, how can the fifth movie in a series be as good as the previous ones. I was thoroughly impressed by Saw V, though. I really liked how they tied it all together and explained how the detective got involved with it all. This was more of a behind the scenes approach. And, of course, there are many questions left for the next movie, which is exactly what the writers have done for the entire series. Lots of holy **** moments, too, which is what these movies are great at. I'm ready for VI.
