Burns better sure as hell hope these numbers are coming from Western Montana, because he's getting pounded with 20 percent of the vote. Like 15 percent getting pounded.

There are some eastern counties reporting, too at this point.

You can't spend like crazy and cut taxes. You need to cut both for it to work, and if you aren't going to do that, you should balance the ledger, instead of creating a huge deficit. The problem is, the Republicans were ass-backward on this, and the Democrats are going to be worse.

Given that the Democrats wiped out the budget deficit the last time they had any sort of control in DC, that statement is premature, to say the least.

The Virginia stuff keeps getting better. The recount cannot start until the election is certified and state law says the earliest you can certify is 10 days after the election. If the Dems lead 50-49 with this up in the air....to quote the greatest college FB announcer of all-time, "Whoa, Nellie...this one's gonna be a barnburner."

Pope, that's insane.

Effing insane.

Everyone just sits on their hands for 10 days?

Interesting sig video.

Me, I always thought winning (or losing) with class and dignity was important. Both in sports and politics.

Well, when folks keep being told you're a terrorist sympathizer if you don't toe the GOP line, they tend to get a bit testy.

And in the election shocker of 2006, Tennessee has banned same-sex marriage.

That's what the reporter on MSNBC said.

Lyman, the only way that happens is if Corker and Talent hang on. If it is 50-49 Dems with just that one left, it will become Florida, Part Deux.

Yeah, it's pup's video that's lowered the level of discourse in this country.

No. it actually improves it, right? Because the Dems have retaken the House, it's okay to gloat because you've been pissed for a few years, right?

Sure it is. No, really. It's so cool and stuff.

The GOP failed to show class two years ago, when after all those close calls, they trumpeted a clear mandate. Should I not expect better from Democratic supporters here?

If the Virginia race ends in a tie, I'm going to feel really stupid for not changing my registration to my current home in time.

Oh for cripes sake, Piotr. Of all the libs on this board, including the ones like dog and zeke and Fen, none of whom have made a peep, or gloated in any way, and you want to act like pup and her sig mean that somehow all Democrats are rubbing your face in things? Whatever.

Meanwhile, deep and yawn have been spam-bombing us with GOP talking points and hate sites for two weeks, but WE'RE the ones giving the conservatives the middle finger and being sore-winners?

For what it's worth, the Virginia Board of Elections had Allen ahead of Webb by about 18,000-19,000 votes, but just recently put Webb ahead by 19,000 votes, taking away a number for Allen. Not sure what it means. Think absentees and recounts however.

Burns is creeping back in this thing. It's gone from 15 to 12 to 10 in the last hour.

It stops at Tester + 5, I think.
Some great schadenfreude, though. Jim Leach, Watergate grandstander, gone. John Sweeney, Florida 2000 thug, gone.
Senator Man On Dog, gone. A whole bunch of governors, which none of the TV dumbasses has seen fit to mention.
More of this, please.

Not MY face. I can't say it breaks my heart to see gridlock halt this administration. I just think that when the resident prickly combatants (whom you mentioned in your post) haven't said much, that speaks to the wisdom of winning with dignity, is all. All those guys have been silent (and will probably provide some good analysis of what this means), but the youngster has to have that neat little video. There's just no need for that.

The election results are enough to put people in their places. I know Yawn would be here running all kinds of smack if the GOP had won. But he's not, because they didn't. And if he was, I would have been here asking him to show more class.

Election day is a tough day, when you find that your one vote maybe didn't ultimately make a difference; I think we all know people who still can't get over 2000 or 2004 (some of them post here). No need to mar it with taunts.

Allen concedes... to go to sleep and wake up tomorrow as votes continue to be counted.
