Wisconsin will be in top 4. For political reasons, no undefeated Power 5 team can be kept out of playoff spot. Otherwise, I agree with Steak as usual. If Ohio State beats Michigan and then Wisconsin, I bet they're in. Never forget college sports is government of, for and by the Midwesterners.

Why does Ohio State look any better for beating Michigan? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know . . . big, bad rival. Oooooooooooh.

Michigan has played two decent teams and lost both games. It has no wins against a team with a winning record.

Undefeated has to beat one-loss teams. Has to, or the system falls apart. This is basic social sciences stuff. There can be discrimination between teams with equal records. Not for teams who have worse records than a competitor.

Utah State nearly won in Madison in 2012 and isn't exactly the worst FBS scrub out there.

BYU's season is an anomaly because BYU is still BYU.

Kiffin's got Florida Atlantic at 7-3.

I don't think you hold Wisconsin's non-conference schedule against them.

Schedules have to mean something, too. Reward Oklahoma for playing and beating Ohio State. Reward Wisconsin IF/WHEN they do the same. Right now Oklahoma's strength of schedule is ranked 16th, Wisconsin 63rd. Let Wisconsin close that gap, remain undefeated, and THEN put them above Oklahoma. But no reason to do it now.

My prediction is that they will be, as Notre Dame will surely drop out and so will Georgia. Alabama, Miami, Wisconsin and Clemson, not necessarily in that order.

This is why I’d love to see a 16-team bracket with 10 conference champs and six at large. Every single team starts the season with an actual opportunity to win the championship and teams that lose a game or two in a tough conference still have their shot. And the first time a Georgia Southern knocks out an Auburn? March Madness on steroids.

The 16-team bracket sounds great until the elephant in the room — the bowl system — clears its throat.

There's been a whole lotta money invested in that system by TV networks, colleges, communities that host the games, etc. A 16-team tourney requires four weekends to play. The first weekend would be mid-December, with games probably played on college campuses. Even if you tried to play the quarterfinals and semifinals at traditional bowl-game sites, that's a lot of moving parts and last-minute scheduling.

It takes marching bands a lot of time to prepare for the Rose Bowl parade!
