Looks like Virginia Tech and Tennessee in the Peach-Fil-A Bowl. That won't not draw.

And SMU is going to Hawaii. God bless 'em.

If Hawaii beats da Badgers this weekend the Mustangs will play the Rainbow Warriors on Dec. 24.

That Tech-Tennessee game is one I can get behind as a Tech fan. Should be a blast.

Folks in Knoxville aren't so sure this is a done deal. UT could fall to Independence Bowl and be replaced by UGA in the used2BPeach.

Weren't Tech and Tennessee talking about playing at the track in Bristol awhile back? Did they ever get anywhere with it?

Didn't UT already get the invite and accept? It's VT that's waiting, from what I hear.

Yes and no.

If a bunch of things fall Tech's way, there's still a very outside shot of a BCS berth. I think that's what Tech is waiting for.

No invitation has been confirmed and the fan base anxiously believes the Atlanta trip is falling apart.

Tech can't accept a bowl bid yet because they haven't been released by the BCS. They're in the top 14 in the BCS standings thus still eligible for a BCS slot. There's almost no chance they'll get one though.

Bruton Smith offered Tech AND Tennessee $20 million to play at the speedway. He was going to turn the infield into a field and make a big day out of it. And if anyone could do it, he could.
There was a very small window to get it done, thanks to previously scheduled games and all that nonsense. It never worked out.
He was as serious as a heart attack. He was going to give each school a check for 20 mil.

FSU to the Gator Bowl could be real interesting to watch, as it will mess with how things play out in the ACC's bowl structure. Wonder if it will happen?

There are probably several back-room deals, but I think it's the policy of those conferences who play a championship game that no offer can be officially extended or accepted until after Saturday's games.

Yeah, but there are rules involved about such things as win differential. The league would have to agree and it might catch some backlash from teams that finished a lot better than FSU. They went 6-****ing-6, right? If I'm an 8-4 bumped to ****Town Bowl so Bobby can have a nice bye bye bowl, I'm pissed.

That said, I think it will happen.

Jesus. $20 mil each?? You'd think that could pay off a school or two with whom you have a game already scheduled. Damn shame that never happened. Would have been a hell of an atmosphere.

For that kind of money, it should have happened. But it isn't as easy as it sounds. Open dates matching, finding opponents for the teams you buy off, etc.

It would have cost him much more than that. He has buildings - press center, tower - in his infield. Take them out, put in field, take field back out, put buildings back in. But he's rich and nuts (in a good way) and wanted this game. Knowing him, he would have turned a profit. Game at night, **** going on all day, 160000 in the stands. He would have sold every available inch of space for sponsors.

I'll have to look up the story I did on it.

Some of Stewart Mandel's projections are interesting. Central Michigan vs. Notre Dame would be a hell of a match-up between LeFeveor and Claussen, no matter the records.
I wish they let the guys who do the US Open pairings do the bowl match-ups.
Oklahoma vs. Arizona (Stoops Bowl)
Cincy - Georgia Tech (winner gets the ND job Bowl)
Temple - Idaho (The Where ya been? Bowl)
Penn State - Florida State (Loser walks away forever Bowl)

I know I am the only one who cares about the International Bowl, but the projections I have seen have Rutgers against either Temple or Ohio. Can't wait 'til Jan. 2.
