how bout the Ole Miss guys with the bleached blonde hair? There were a lot more last year and the year before, but you'd swear the rednecks thought they lived in Southern California.

Wild pitch by the Rebs misses everything, sails high overhead to the backstop

Then ESPN shows a quick shot of fans emptying into the parking lot outside the stadium.
Still 6-0 at stretch time.

Are you speaking of Mississippians in general, or Ole Miss players?
The roster shows 25 of the 40 kids are not from Mississippi.

Boy, Oregon State is really taking it to Stanford, 10-0 in the fourth...
How the hell did Stanford win a regional with NC State and Texas, anyway??? ???

Blitz, I was talking about the players. I know Cozart has it and he's from Memphis. Last year, I know Coghlan, Osteen plus some others did. It's cool if you're from Pepperdine. Not so much in the SEC.

Hoops? Georgia's bound for Omaha. None of those home runs Saturday did South Carolina any good Sunday or Monday.

Also headed to the CWS are Rice, and in a few minutes, Miami, which will be the fourth ACC team to make it.

I'm sorry, but there's one thing about the Four-Letter Network's coverage of college baseball that really rankles me.

On the graphic showing a hitter's name, number and basic stats, why do they feel it necessary to list a player's favorite baseball player or rock band?

Why are we better for knowing Oklahoma leadoff hitter Chuckie Caulfield's favorite player is Ken Griffey Jr.? Or that some player's favorite band is 3 Doors Down?

That's the same treatment ESPN gives the freaking Little League World Series, and it's garbage. ESPN doesn't treat college football or basketball players like 12-year-olds, so why do they do it for baseball players?

ACC advanced four of a possible six teams to the CWS.
The Pac-10 was 1-for-3
The SEC was 1-for-5
The Big 12 was 0-for-5

Now the ACC has to do something at Omaha, although that will be tough because they're paired against each other early.

Be thankful or they will switch the categories to "Favorite EOE Series," "Best Catchphrase," "Most Texted Message Using ESPN Mobile"

The SEC was 1-for-5
And that's only because the super-dooper power conference, the be-all, end-all of college baseball had two teams play each other.
Now, all you SEC apologists, lemme hear you come up with the excuses...

It's just like basketball -- the BCS conferences get the bids and lay turds, while the non-BCS teams get one team in. Hell, the Big Ten could have gone 0-for-5 like the Big 12 did. But the selection committee cant see past the ACC, SEC and Big 12...
Rant over, thank you for listening

Lay turds, huh?

The SEC had four out of the final 16. Yeah, that conference sucks ass.

And advanced the smallest possible number (1) to Omaha.

'Bama hosted a super regional, and got bounced. Ole Miss hosted a super regional, and got bounced. Arkansas and Kentucky didn't make it out of the regionals played on their home fields.

A good conference, sure, but not its best postseason.

Certainly not its best postseason, nor was anybody expecting it to be when the season started. Most SEC teams lost a lot of players last year. I remember Georgia coach David Perno talking in March 2005 about how this would be a down year for the conference because of all the veteran players lost. Nice coincidence that he's the only SEC coach headed to Omaha.

I mentioned his prediction at last year's CWS, where I was met with skepticism when I said watch out for Kentucky in the SEC East this year.  ;D

The SEC bounces back in a big way next season. There's my fearless prediction of June 2006.

And we shall meet at the Upstream and be rejoiceful, and it shall be good, and J.D. can once again get the Omaha steak sandwich he's missing out on this year.

That's my prediction for June, 2006.

Should be an interesting CWS. Lots of newer faces and several dark horses for the title.
