Georgia Tech in control late over College of Charleston in Game One.

Is this the year the ACC sheds the 'choke' label? And will the SEC get the maximum-possible three teams in Omaha? How good is Rice? Clemson? Can the Beavers make it back to Rosenblatt?

And does anybody care?

Having earned a college degree at a school in the Magnolia State, I care about Ole Miss.
I always root for my alma mater, but also the nine or so collective colleges and universities within our fine state.
Go Rebs!!!!
(And Charleston simply didn't advance its runners home today once they got on base.)

I care that the guy who locked himself in the john at the SEC tourney doesnt do the same thing this weekend..

Calling it a best-of-three series ... isn't that grammatically incorrect? If two victories secures the series, isn't it a better-of-three series?

Wouldn't you need to win all three games to attain best-of-three status?

And why do I suddenly feel like George Carlin or Edwin Newman?

FWIW, I love Oral.

ORU tied with overall No. 1 seed Clemson after five innings.

Clemson might go down to Oral.
Maybe not, though, after seeing 6th-inning lead-off ORU error.

Uhhh, you're forgetting one key variable to the equation, JD... those Titans of Cal State Fullerton.

They're the 5th seed, yet they were ranked either first or second for the last two-thirds of the season. Their starting three are a combined 37-6 with an ERA around 2.1. Opponents are hitting .214 against them and they're hosting a Missouri team that somehow got past UCLA and Pepperdine.

Need more? Fullerton is 19-4 in its last 23 games.

A little love is in order :D

Oh, I love me some Titans (at the risk of starting a thread on worn-out lines). I just threw a few angles out there to get the thread going. I certainly think Cal State Fullerton and Rice are major stories.

And I'm more interested in Cal State Fullerton's season right now than you could guess.

By the way, Oral Roberts is about to win this one.

This ORU-Clemson game has been great theater........ who made the Golden Eagles a No.3 seed, anyway?

Glad to hear it, JD ;D

BTW, how in the Hades is Oral Roberts (can I use those two words in the same sentence?) beating Clemson? Saw that score on the Deuce's scroll and it still didn't register.

And who hit that grand slam? None other than Cubs' first-round pick Tyler Colvin.

Awesome.

Yeah, I hear there's a prominent job open someplace in college baseball. :o

For those of you who are lucky enough to be heading to Omaha next week, have a few Hefs at the Upstream for the Micro Man.

Interesting that for the second year in a row there could be only one returning team from the previous season's CWS. And that team won't be making an Omaha three-peat in 2007 after having nine players drafted earlier this week.
