USC, you're on the clock!
Despite sketchy connections at best, USC's horse mascot Traveler is coming under fire because its name is close to the one Robert E. Lee's horse had. Never mind that they're spelled different, the original Traveler had his name before becoming the USC mascot or before his owner bought him, or that there has never been any political connection associated with the horse, TRAVELER MUST DIE!!!

Traveler, USC's mascot, comes under scrutiny for having a name similar to Robert E. Lee's horse

Traveler's going to need to stand in front of a microphone and make it absolutely clear he's not a Nazi or Confederate sympathizer ...

Will throw this on the politics thread, too. Too good not to share.

Is this another Title IX issue? Travelette demands equal treatment.

Here's the thing. This has nothing to do with electoral politics. This is because an unqualified person was put in a decision making job. My guess is this was because of nepotism, old school ties, attractiveness or occasionally financial corruption.

Maryland will make a strong run for Hotbed of the Year.

U-Md. Latino students described as ‘mediocre’ and ‘pretty bad’ in mass email

Father and daughter resigned from Mock Trial after the dad accidentally forwarded their conversation to students in the class instead of to his daughter.

“If I were to rank purely on performance, I would probably only take 1 of them. Should I take 2? All three? None have mock trial experience,” Abigail Graber wrote. “The mediocre one is extremely involved in community activism/organizing (she’s the one I would probably take no matter what, what she lacks in skill she makes up in confidence, although she may be too busy for this commitment).”

Terps had a big year last year in the microaggressions area, with a noose found in a frat house as well as the now-requisite list of demands to university leadership. There's a lot of promise here.

Looks like their beatdown of Texas on Saturday sent a message on quite a few fronts.

Tonight's the night! Ben Shapiro speaks.

UC Berkeley free speech in spotlight over super-tight security plans

Anti-Shapiro posters have appeared in hallways and on lampposts, while pro-Shapiro posters have disappeared. In one development mocked by the right, the campus has offered counseling to students and employees whose “sense of safety and belonging” becomes compromised by Shapiro’s presence.

I hope nobody feels triggered between noon and 1 p.m. Having been to the campus recently, I can confirm that no office workers will be available.

I just noticed today that my shop used 'right-wing speaker Shapiro' in a headline the other day. And we wonder why people don't trust us.
