Rob Schneider TV show picked up by CBS ...

LOS ANGELES - Rob Schneider's comedy has been picked up for midseason, an individual familiar with the production confirms to TheWrap.
The as-yet-entitled series will star the "Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo" actor as Rob, a seemingly confirmed bachelor who marries into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. The series co-stars Cheech Marin, Lupe Ontiveros (from "As Good as It Gets") and Claudia Bassols.
Schneider will write and executive-produce, along with Lew Morton of "Futurama" and "Big Lake." Jamie Widdoes is directing. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios, in association with The Tannenbaum Company, which co-produces "Two and a Half Men." Eric and Kim Tannenbaum will serve as non-writing executive producers.
This will mark Schneider's first regular TV gig since the comedy "Men Behaving Badly," which ran from 1996 to 1997.

He probably reacted the same way I do when I turn on the new At the Movies and instead of reviews of current films they show Siskel and Ebert's greatest hits...

I wouldn't be opposed to Siskel and Ebert reruns, but when I tune into At the Movies I'd like to find out if they liked the stuff that was just released...

Once more, for old times' sake:

But Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize. Therefore, Goldstein is not qualified to complain that Columbia financed "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" while passing on the opportunity to participate in "Million Dollar Baby," "Ray," "The Aviator," "Sideways" and "Finding Neverland." As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks.

I never watched it so I will have to wait for **** to tell me whether it was funny or not.

Someone marries into crazy/different/overbearing family - never seen that before on TV.

That was easily my favorite show in high school, especially the first season.

Was there a second season?

Yep. Ron Eldard and Justine Bateman got married and left in the first episode of the second season. Ken Marino moved in. It wasn't anywhere near as good and they kept moving it to different time slots and the ratings took a nosedive.

I watched it on DVD a year or so ago and it wasn't as bad as I remembered, but the new neighbor girl was pretty annoying.

Wow, I have zero recollection of any of that in the second season.
