RIP Shannen Doherty

Even before 90210, I remember her on Little House On The Prairie and Our House. Enjoyed her work then as a kid. Enjoyed her time in 90210, although her real-life drama annoyed me.

As always, **** cancer. RIP.

She was my first celebrity crush. Hey, I was 12 when 90210 started. I knew she'd been sick for a long while. Still some sad news.

**** cancer, indeed.

Damn. “90210” was a show that no one in my high school admitted to watching but of course we all did.

Hope she’s catching up with Luke Perry and having some laughs.

Dropping like flies.

I mean with the addition of cable - more people became "celebrities" - with the Internet, imagine when all the YouTube celebrities hit their mid-70s.

My French professor described it as “that show you started watching in order to make fun of it, then kinda got sucked in.”

I was a senior in HS when it started and we all watched it non-ironically. One of my best buddies came back for a weekend visit from college the following fall and the first thing we started talking about was 90210.

She would have had just as long a run on Charmed if she hadn’t walked away. In hindsight I’m sure that’s a regrettable decision

She could have been even a bigger star than she was (had she wanted to) but it seemed like she could never get out of her own way. Wasn't she married to the guy in the Paris Hilton video at some point?

She could have been a bigger star, apparently, if she hadn't been unusually difficult to work with.

And I certainly don't have first-hand proof of it, but there's plenty of documentation.

From Wikipedia:
90210 executive producers Darren Star and Charles Rosin both confirmed that Doherty was difficult to work with on-set; Rosin commented that "...she had habitual lateness. Her lateness was appalling, and she had a callous attitude and an indifference." Years later, Jennie Garth said of her relationship with Doherty, "there were times that we loved each and there were times that we wanted to claw each other's eyes out".

But RIP.

Never watched 90210 (or Melrose Place. Honest!). But no question she was talented and just at the center of the pop culture for a long time.

I thought she was great in Mallrats and had a little fun with her persona.

RIP

A guy I used to work with, who became a prominent sports writer and author in D.C., went to high school with her in the San Fernando Valley. He never had much nice to say about her.
