Drugs, alcohol, disease, his ATV accident -- so much he overcame to enjoy multiple eras of his career, you'd think he would be immortal.

I'll admit my first fandom of him was the TV show, but I always knew how much of an icon he was.

The fact that he was able to go out in a blaze of glory with that tribute/farewell concert is perfect.

Oh, man, this is one of those things that you knew was coming some day, but you're never prepared. Seeing some of the clips from the concert, it just seemed to me like he knew and was just telling everyone goodbye the best way he knew how.
And there will be people who say, "no, too soon!", but if you told me back in the '80s that he would live to 76, I would have said "no chance."
RIP, to a crazy character who, when I first started hearing about him in junior high seemed to have the reputation of another Charles Manson, but was able to position himself later in life as everyone's bat**** insane, but lovable, grandpa or crazy uncle.

The fact that all four of the original Sabs were able to take the stage in 2025 was a minor miracle.

Maybe that's what kept Ozzy hanging on these past few months.

RIP to one of metal's best frontmen and a true character.

Damn. What a legend, what a life. And echoing the chorus here, it's now clear he was willing himself to stay alive for the tribute show. Hopefully he's singing along as Randy Rhoads shreds in the great beyond. RIP.

In 1983, Ozzy and Judas Priest played concerts in my arch-conservative Missouri hometown within, if I recall correctly, the same month. The way the Baptists reacted, you would have thought the devil himself had ascended from underneath Glenstone Avenue.

What a life: the godfather of heavy metal, huge solo artist, reality TV star, great Stern guest. Sabbath was such a huge influence, not just on bands like Metallica, but on all the new wave of British heavy metal guys that followed and the countless bands that followed in their wake.

Lots of singers in his position---leaving a huge band to go solo----could have flopped or been forgettable, but he had the goods and thus a great solo career in addition to his classic Sabbath work.

Could crush ballads (see "She's Gone" from Technical Ecstasy, not the Hall and Oates song) as well as rockers.

Ozzy had a couple pro wrestling moments too. Was in the corner of the British Bulldogs when they won the WWF tag team titles at WrestleMania 2



And back when WWE was doing guest Monday Night Raw general manager spots, he and Sharon were on the show one week.
