RIP Randolph Mantooth of "Emergency!"

Actually, when I went down an Emergency wormhole, Julie London was a chain smoker and it directly contributed to her death.

While in the same wormhole, I found out her last album was a loungy version of late 60s hits. Gave it a listen. Would have been square as hell in 1969, but sounds pretty cool now.

"Would I like to get to Know You," Spanky and our Gang. Great late 60s group, hear a lot of their music on Sirius.

Feels like "Come on Down to My Boat" is by them, but it's not, it's Every Mother's Son.

The former song listed was on that Julie London album.

Am I the only 80s kid with no memory of this being in syndication that decade? I never even heard of it until well into adulthood, and between TBS, WGN and all the local channels, believe you me I did not lack for exposure to shows from the 60s and 70s.
I think you come to it honestly. Whilst in my Emergency wormhole, I found that the Jack Webb-produced shows were barely seen after their initial syndication runs ended. Dragnet was probably a bit more exposed than the others.

Funny how it works like that. I recall “Streets Of San Francisco” being on somewhat frequently into the 90s, but then it disappeared off the face of the Earth for three decades. Finally has re-emerged on Pluto, etc. (Still the greatest theme song no one remembers.)

Emergency’s full run is on Peacock now. I tried to watch one last night, but I was stopped dead in my tracks by the wooden dialogue. Didn’t care about that when I was 5.

Yes, that's what reminded me of it.

Covers of the Doors, the Kingsmen, Donovan, the 5th Dimension and SAOG, pretty talented!
Quite so. I enjoyed it. Perfect for some chill out on the turntable.

“Light My Fire” was cool because she’d leave some lines Jim Morrison belted out unspoken. More sensual that way.

That seems to track, since I also never heard of Adam-12 growing up.

Funny, just a couple of weeks ago a REELZ video came up that had an episode of "Tattletales" with Julie and Bobby. I hadn't even thought about her in a few decades and it took me a few seconds to remember. Damn, that's Julie London. WOW!!!!

I remember it from when I was 8 or 9, then I either moved on to other things or like Bubbler said was removed from syndication. Which makes sense, since it was a wholly 70s show (I think the last episode aired in 1978) and it would have given way to more recent shows by the mid-80s.

I think Dragnet had a resurgence in the late 80s because of the movie. Pretty sure I watched a bunch of episodes on Nick at Nite around that time.

MeTV shows Dragnet at some crazy early hour (5 a.m.?).

Easier to find 1950s Dragnet shows online than the color 1967-70 ones I grew up with.

Emergency (pretty sure the original had no exclamation mark) was so rare to find on TV that I shelled out a chunk of change for the series on DVD, making it the first DVD collection I ever purchased.

Too funny. My best buddy from HS has the Emergency DVDs as well and swears by them. I guess he's not as discerning witih dialogue as that uppity prick @Bubbler!!! :D

At least this isn't a recent development. I used to love Cozi TV b/c it aired '80s detective shows around the clock. Now it's just Frasier, Roseanne and Two And A Half Men around the clock. Thanks but I don't miss those shows.

If I remember correctly (and I might not), the show that moved into Emergency's slot on NBC was CHiPs. Eight or nine-year-old me was all aboard with that show. We used to play "CHiPs" on our Huffy bikes!

Emergency! Was the first television show I remember watching as a little kid. I obviously didn’t know anything about the plot, or storylines, but little BB loved the buzzer and fire truck leaving the station.
