One of the great modern actresses (Liam Neeson's wife, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave) may have suffered a serious brain injury in a skiing accident.

Re: Natasha Richardson in in serious accident

That's sad. Hope she recovers fully.

Re: Natasha Richardson in in serious accident

Oh, goddammit.
I met her once on a movie set on which Neeson was filming. (And, yes, he's every bit as good a bloke as you might expect. And his effect on women is otherworldly.) She was smart and good-natured, and she looked great in a baseball hat. They genuinely seemed to love each other.
All kinds of prayers here.

Re: Natasha Richardson in in serious accident

I hope this turns out the best it possibly can.

Note to self - never try to ski ever again.

Re: Natasha Richardson in in serious accident

Very few details. Let's hope this is not as serious as some reports are making it out tobe.

Re: Natasha Richardson in in serious accident

Some outlets (perezhilton, several twitter feeds with links) are reporting the worst. I say that hoping that this doesn't turn into another posthumous argument about sources and such.

Re: Natasha Richardson in serious accident

Time Out NY reported earlier that Natasha Richardson died. Now they are backing off that and saying that their source says she is brain dead and not expected to survive. TMZ reports she is en route, via private jet and with a team of medics to another hospital.

Well, this couldn't suck more.

Does anyone have the time to set up a website that records these false reports? Every major story seems to have one huge error (scoop).

Re: Natasha Richardson in serious accident

Not the point right now. Just got to send out good wishes for her.

If she is brain dead, there is no "expected" about it.

Sadness. More from the NY Post:

Re: Natasha Richardson in serious accident

The Post story makes it sound less like a ski accident and more like she fell ill while at a ski slope. Sad.

Story makes it sounds like she had a routine fall but and appeared OK but must have had some brain injury or maybe dislodged a clot or something.

It must have been a pretty good fall if they brought her down the mountain and suggested she see a doctor. People fall all the time.

Wasn't Neeson's character in "Love Actually" a widower?
Life is not supposed to imitate art this way.

My kids just loved, loved her in The Parent Trap.

She and Dennis Quaid, who is almost never bad.

TMZ with a slightly more hopeful report:

http://www.tmz.com/

UPDATE 2:00 PM ET -- The hospital tells TMZ Richardson is sedated and suffering from brain swelling -- but, contrary to some reports, is not brain dead.

UPDATE: 1:37 PM ET -- We're told Richardson's jet was scheduled to take off from Montreal-Trudeau Airport. A rep for the airport said the jet is either still there or has just taken off.

We're told Natasha Richardson has been transported from the hospital in Canada via ambulance. CTV says she boarded a private jet -- we do not know where the jet has gone, but we believe it's New York City.

Richardson was accompanied by a medic team for the flight.

And some details on the accident:

We now know what happened to Natasha Richardson on the ski slope when she was critically hurt yesterday, suffering a brain injury.

We're told she was having a private lesson on a green slope (beginner) at a ski resort in Quebec, Canada. She fell -- we're not sure why. There was no blood and no sign of impact. Two ski patrollers came to her rescue. When they got there she was conscious -- smiling and making jokes.

An hour later, Natasha started to complain of a headache and said she didn't feel well. Someone from the resort called 911, and she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Natasha was conscious when she left the resort.
