This is a horrible loss. Omar is one of a handful of unique characters in all of literature, not just TV. His interpretation of that character made it so. Humane yet cold blooded. Criminal with a code. A totally honest portrayal of a man not fighting his sexuality or his violent nature, but one who is self-aware. Maybe not satisfied with his lot in life but who embraced it none the less, knowing the contradictions. It takes a supremely talented actor to make that happen. If that’s all he ever did, and it wasn’t, he accomplished more in His profession than 99% of all actors.
