The Turtles were great. I remember them performing "Happy Together" on the Smothers Brothers show one Sunday night.

Incredibly underrated and like many bands, ripped off by their record company. Honestly, I like "She'd Rather Be With Me" over "Happy Together." And knowing the backstory, "Elenore" is such a great parody that even White Whale Records missed the joke. A hit song written as anti-Happy Together. Just shows how random songs become hit records with the right hook.
They knocked the Beatles off No. 1, a feat accomplished by very few. And sort of got lost in the Grass Roots, Lovin' Spoonful, Rascals, Tommy James similar-sounding bands of the era.

I actually got to see Flo and Eddie live. IIRC, they opened for Alice Cooper. Anyhow, they were decent musically and put on a hilarious live show.
