Ike finally gets his wish -- 58 year later.

The famed tree was on the 17th hole at Augusta National. President Eisenhower demanded it be taken down in 1956 because he kept hitting into it. Clifford Roberts said no.

The tree, about a century old, succumbed to last week's ice storm.

I expect Jim Nantz to host a one-hour special on the Tree in the lead-up to the final round of the tuuuuuurnament this year.

There is no R in toonamint.

Maybe they'll take a chunk of it and make a wooden driver for Arnold, Jack or Gary Player to use at the ceremonial tee shot.

Was surprised this news even got out. Figured Augusta had doubles of every tree in an undisclosed location and when this would happen, a call to the bullpen would fix it.

Good read about it here.

Can't wait for Reilly to vomit up a column on the insanity of it all.

Would that make it a Nixon tree?
