The only E&Ps we ever saw were in the school library and then at our newspaper, but they disappeared as quickly as the Swimsuit Issue in a frat house (and to true journalism goobers, perhaps served a similar purpose).

I remember that although the magazine would stay in the school library the centerfolds of pica sticks, proportion wheels, ATEX terminals, TRS80s with acoustic couplers, and lineotype machines would be missing.

Whenever the pages were stuck together, I always told myself it was just from the waxer...

The waxer! I'd forgotten about the waxer, but thanks to you, now I can smell the damn thing.

Poynter says AJR is going from bi-monthly to quarterly.

If a publisher or editor says he or she has discovered the way for papers to make money on the Internet - will there be anybody there to report it?
Just goes to show that advertising and the Web don't mix.

Anyone remember Brill's Content?

It's been gone for a long time now, but that was almost as good as E&P sometimes.

I used to try to go through department mail early so I could grab the latest E&P and see what jobs I might reach some day. Seeing openings, real openings with lengthy descriptions, was a real inspiration. A real era ender.

Me three. But E&P died for me as a must read/visit the days I found J-Jobs and Romenesko.

Sucks about E&P. I love trade publications -- at least the ones that don't just run press releases.

Is it common knowledge among journalist that Romenesko is also the webmaster of Starbucksgossip.com?

Fun site for friends & foes of the country's biggest coffee company.

(raises hand) It was tremendous. Way ahead of its time, unfortunately.

Now-former columnist for E&P has reaction on blog: http://steveouting.com/2009/12/11/3-links-that-explain-editor-publishers-demise/

Maybe some hope for E&P..

We hear E&P editor Greg Mitchell has received multiple calls from parties interested in possibly buying the magazine, and that he's working furiously to make some kind of deal happen.
