RIP Bobby Caldwell

Same reaction here. You could have told me it was Al Jarreau, Bill Withers or Lou Rawls and I wouldn't have batted an eye.

Incredibly funky jazzy hit that got played a ton at just about every AOR station at which I worked.

RIP.

My whole family besides me — he was white?

And of course for this song to get play on the urban stations and get on the Billboard-soul charts or whatever they were called back then, they had to hide his identity by using the album cover they did, which was just a silohuette of him sitting on a bench.

Well, slap my ass and call me Whitey, but I don't recall ever hearing of Bobby Caldwell or that song before today.

Great voice, though. RIP, buddy.
