I have a dumb question. Is there such a thing as a splitter for the cigarette lighter in a car? Since we drive an older car we have to choose whether to plug in the GPS or play the satellite radio. Be nice to be able to do both on long trips.

Please feel free to jeer and mock me. :D

Yes.

I bet RadioShack might even have them.

HC, a Siamese/splitter/whateveritiscalledthesedays are usually available at your local auto parts place. I'd send you mine from years ago, but you'd probably want one with connectors that aren't corroded.

Damn. I've never felt quite so pathetically girly before. :-[

No reason to feel like that. It's a legitimate question, especially if one has never seen the accessory before.

HC, we've got one for long trips with three ports in it.. hubby doesn't remember where he got it. But it wasn't hard to find and it's sweet. We also have a black and decker converter, which you can plug into the car lighter and then plug a standard ac/dc outlet into it. We use that to run the gamecube on long trips.

This is kind of related in that its a car accessory.

Anyone know where I can pick up a new power adaptor for my XM radio? It's a Roady.

My original cord has started to fray a bit.

Radio Shack, Autozone and maybe even Advance¹ should have the splitter you're looking for.

¹Although the nearby Advance Auto Parts is so abjectly lame that I refuse to cross their threshold.

I got a triple-adaptor with a flexible gooseneck that can be fixed at 45, 90 and 135 degree angles (and anywhere in between) at Radio Shack for about $12. I can plug in the XM/iPod, cell phone and GPS all at the same time.
