Today is the selection day for the new NASCAR HOF with coverage later today on Speed TV and ESPN.

There are six "press" voters on the voting panel. There is also a group of six broadcasters on the panel.

Kenny Bruce
Dustin Long
Mike Harris
Nate Ryan
Jim Pedley
Duane Cross

A few notables absent: Ed Hinton, Monte Dutton, Marty Smith, Al Pearce

That's the AP Mike Harris, by the way. Not this one. I've already received one e-mail stumping for a candidate.
And that's six, not five.

Moddy,

If David Pearson doesn't make the first class, I'm peeling out of here.

Sorry, but without David Pearson this isn't a Hall of Fame, it's more like a closet. The reality is they should have inducted a larger class the first couple of years. As it is, many of the sports pioneers may be dead by the time the voting catches up to the top 20 drivers of all time.

No Cole Trickle or Stroker Ace? Cole won something like six out of seven races his rookie year until that Daytona wreck. :D
In terms of the non-voters, I would add Mike Mulhern to the list.

Godwin Kelly should have been the first press voter on the list. He's in Daytona for God's sake.
