But he's sooooo smart.

Elizabeth Dole DID run for president. But she quit the 2000 race in 1999 for inadequate funding. But at the time she was polling higher than McCain was.

I was really holding on to the hope Bachman DID mean Gacy. That would be badass and a way to separate herself from the pack.

But no, her campaign just had to back off of it and claim she meant the cowboy. Wusses.

I don't pay much attention to this stuff usually, so I have only seen her speak a few times and her shtick has always rubbed me wrong. I honestly could never tell if she was of mediocre intelligence or if she is pretty smart and playing masterfully to a massive audience swayed by her brand of populism.

But now I think she is smarter than I perhaps thought and her act is calculated.

First, she absolutely ate Chris Wallace's lunch yesterday, and he generally can be glib and talk his way through anything with an interview subject. She handled his question as well as anyone could have:

And from what I a reading about the team she has put together, how she handled appearances in Iowa today, and how she is being handled so she doesn't put her foot in her mouth talking off the cuff, I get the feeling she realizes she needs to listen and follow their advice. And with the way she has been raising money, if she can stick to a script, she might have a chance for the nomination.

I still can't stand her or what she stands for, but I was really impressed by how she didn't blink when Chris Wallace screwed up by asking the "flake" question that way.

I think a male candidate who appeared to name-check John Wayne Gacy would be ridiculed as well.

True, but unless it came from almost any other candidate than Romney's mouth, would there be a microphone there to pick it up?

Michelle Bachmann is crazy hot.

She can take some cues from your Donald avatar. I watched part of the first GOP debate and her hair was shellacked. It didn't move. It really disturbed me.

Just another example of why we will not see a female President in our lifetime. This is not meant to be a slight, but the reality is that women are just not wired to handle all of demands that would be thrown at them as President.

She reads the script, some boob below her does bad research. I don't see how that is automatically a negative on a woman when many of them juggle kids and a career. Quite frankly, I think a woman would be guided by a more compassionate compass than 90 percent of men.

Ahhh once again the chivalry brigade arrives to protect the dainty dignity of the self-professed wingnut warrior-princesses, the battle-grizzled grizzly mamas who want to jump in the ring and be treated just like everybody else.

COINCIDENTALLY, who incessantly push agendas which directly attack the health and security of the vast majority of all females in the United States (except the overwhelmingly rich, who will do fine as always).

The rough-tough warrior princesses are ready for battle -- and have shown no reluctance to spew thinly-veiled codewords about a certain evil force who has spread a DARKNESS over our land (cough cough ahem ahem) -- but we dare not refer to THEM by naughty nicknames. Because it's impolite.

Of course I get the same stuff when I call Herman Cain or Clarence Thomas "Uncle Toms," because that's "impolite" too. (Once again, almost always by people who endlessly spout veiled dog-whistle trigger words about a certain other colored-fella politician.)

**** it. You're in the big leagues, girls. Buckle up your ****in' chinstraps. You lookin' for a Kumbayah singalong, look someplace else.

Plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry would make any 55-year-old look appreciably younger.

Let's not pretend any of this stuff is au naturel.

Taibbi profiled Bauchmann in RS last week, and it's very much worth your time.

Look wise one, I was talking about women in general - and a comment about why women will never be able to gain the White House.

But then it would seem that maybe any black running as a Republican is an Uncle Tom, no?
