Shadow-spastic cats rock!

My Maggie fights socks and blankets and anything with little threads hanging off it. And loses everytime. She'll sit there, cautiously swatting at it...swatting at it...swatting at it...and then when her claw catches, she jumps 12 feet in the air and runs like hell.

Gawd, she's dumb. But there's nothing nicer than coming home after some time away and having her meow at me from the floor, jump into my chair and nestle against my right side for a good hour. When we got back from vacation two weeks ago, she wouldn't leave my side. I'd try to roll over and go to sleep (I snore so I tend to sleep in the living room during the week so i don't wake up my wife) and she wouldn't budge.

On a side note, it's always pissed me off that some people make jokes about cat people being weird. Since I was a child, my parents always had a cat. We had Tigger, who was orange and white, and when he passed way (one of the worst days of my childhood), we got another cat named Avery, and we've been close since I was a kid. I think of him like a third sibling. I get excited about going to see him. And now I have Lilly (I know ... I didn't name her, but that's her name). I just love cats. Why do people make these jokes? Cats are great. I think one dog and one cat in the same house is a perfect mix.

I want a pet. This thread has jacked up my cute-o-meter, dammit! I feel like I'm going to be stuck on Awwww.... for the rest of the night.

I had a 22-pound cat who was indeed "a little fuzzy planet." He was wonderful. He slept on my head. We fought over the pillow. Sadly my ex, who was his original owner, did not take care of him after we broke up and the cat had to be put down.

Here's my family dog -- keep moving around too much to get my own yet, plus I don't have a yard -- but he's still my baby, anyway. His name's Lil' Bits, and although you wouldn't know it now because he's getting to be an old man (turns 10 a week from today), we gave him that name because he was jet black when he was a baby ... except for a lil' bit of a white patch on his chin and a lil' bit on his chest. His beard has since turned gray, as you can see.

I've got a picture (not uploaded, though) of him resting in my baseball glove when he was little. At 6.5 pounds, he could probably still fit in there today. We spoil him rotten, and he wouldn't have it any other way. Can't imagine life without him. I've been home twice since I moved out to Cali, and came back with more pictures of the damn dog than anyone else!

Cats are the best. For one thing, you never have to worry about taking them out for a walk or to ****. And their loyalty is pure, unlike dogs, who are trained to never live without you.

For a while, it was three cats. But Smokey, who just loved us with no limits, died last year. He was 13, a big fluffy Himalayan.

Hobbes is 11 now. He's Balinese, brown with dark highlights. He's a sweet boy, a little bit skittish, not really a cuddler.

Dash is 4. He likes to pick on Hobbes (sound familiar, Write?) And when he gets challenged, he does a little four-legged hop.

They're great fun.

Hobbes, I think, probably has another year or two left. He's going to have kidney issues. I'm softly letting my wife know that we WILL be getting another one when Hobbes is gone. Not letting the ol' Dash rattle around the house by himself.

Oh, yeah. A third addition in the past two years has been Amy the turtle. She's 4, and she's huge. We recently had to upgrade to a 75-gallon aquarium for her. She's got some personality, too. When she wants fed (like, every hour if she had her way) she thrashes the water and flaps her arms at us.

On the other hand, when it gets cold, yes the dog has a sweater. If you notice, the fur is rather thin and she does get cold easily. Not the blanket your dog has. And on that day, we were working in the yard and she wanted to stay outside..
It's Birmingham, not Banff and she's not used to cold, even if it is relative

Right now my three-year-old 'baby girl' is curled up by the couch, her head resting on my foot. She's a border collie/we have no idea what else mix that we rescued from the shelter three weeks after our family dog passed (10 years of good memories with her.) She doesn't have the black and white coloring, but she sure acts like a border collie.

Teyla is my constant shadow. If I'm running errands, she believes it's her birthright to accompany me. (I have a food and water dish in my truck for her.) She curls up beside me when I'm working on the 'puter. If I've been gone, she follows me around for a while, just to make sure I'm not leaving without her again. And I swear that dog understands English better than 99 percent of the rest of the English-speaking world.

I've never not had a pet, always dogs except for the apartment years, when I was able to talk my way around any 'no pets' restrictions. "But my cats have never lived in anything but apartments and have never destroyed anything." Don't ask me how, but it worked every time.

I could write a book on how cool my dogs (and cats) have been over the years.

A little black cat named Lucy. Five years on the board and I can't post pics. She's jet black with yellow eyes and about 10 white hairs on her chest. She also sleeps on me. And on the rare occasions when I've had romantic liaisons she's kind enough to leave the room... grudgingly.

Sounds like your cat looks like our cat ...
