This is a public service announcement. I attended tonight an event of the Wendy Marx Foundation for Donor Awareness. Wendy had a liver transplant in 1989 and was an advocate for organ donation until her death in 2003. Her brother Jeff Marx (of Lexington Herald-Leader Pulitzer fame at 23 years old) carries on her work by hosting a birthday party for her every year. I also met Carl Lewis and Christine Brennan, who were both very gracious.

Make sure to check the organ donor box on your driver's license. Your organs don't do you any good when you're dead.

For some reason, I doubt many livers would be accepted from this posse.
God I laughed at that.

But I also have to think that the livers from this posse have been proven effective -- some for very long times.

Wouldn't that be abused yet still effective?
