PFT Reports

ESPN has issued a statement in response to our report that Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber have been dumped from the Monday Night Football broadcast.

“Michele and Suzy will still be assigned to our multiplatform Monday Night Football presentation, including the game, pre-game and post-game,” the statement says. “Their precise roles are currently being determined.”

Also, we’ve been told by an ESPN spokesperson that Tafoya and Kolber will continue to travel to the site of each game.

"Can I get you some sugar in your coffee, Mr. Tirico?"

Yes, thank you.

Would you like me to put a little cream in yours, honey?

There were rumors around here last summer and fall that Kornheiser wasn't going to go back after this past year.

Meanwhile, his radio show has returned and while I haven't listened yet, the incessant commercials they play hyping it on TV here are brutally bad. Just clips of him saying cliched things over the course of a show or two, mostly about himself, while his chosen lackeys laugh as if it's the funniest thing ever.

Sounds to me as if no reporters at all unless something happens. Makes sense, but only for the fact of that there is too much going on in the 3-man booth.
Of course, there's someone there who could be cut back and not missed at all.

They could cut out all the celebrity drop-ins. too.

I'm a huge fan of TK on the radio, and he's as good as ever there. He laughs about those commercials, too.

No chance. Cross-promotion. The Disney dance of death.

I was pretty quick to criticize Erin Andrews early in her career for being all stylle and no substance, but last fall she kept coming up with good stuff during college broadcasts. I can't speak to the MNF broadcasts because I did not watch any of them in 2007, but I'd have no qualms with EA being added. Mainly because I don't plan to watch them in 2008 either ...

If ESPN wants their sideliners to be informative, they might as well go with their NFL journalists (Clayton, et al).

Otherwise, give a big MNF hello to:

No doubt about that. God, she's annoying.

I'll always like Tafoya for the authentically panicked "Dear God, I think I might die right here" tone she struck as the crowd stormed the floor after Hofstra won the 2001 America East title.

Contrasted to the "Dear God, I wish I was dead" tone she took during the game because she was at Hofstra ...

**** you Meat! I'm not rooting for your almost alma maters any more!

Unless they play Duke or Mason. But really what are the odds of THAT?

So what does any of this mean? Clearly, something is up. Otherwise, there would be nothing about their roles to “determine.” Also, ESPN might be holding out hope that they opt to give up their assignments to MNF, so that in the end it will appear that they weren’t removed from the team.

Said one of our sources in response to the statement, “It’s bull**** . That’s all I can tell you. Utter bull****. They are no longer sideline reporters.”

Kolber should move up to the booth and replace TK. I know it won't happen, but it should.

America might be ready for a woman in the White House, but a woman on MNF??

Yeah. Like that'll ever happen.

I might be the only guy I know who thinks Suzy Kolber is very sexy.

Nope. You're not alone there.

Yeah, and Joe Namath makes three.

No. I think she's got something going on, too.

I miss Melissa Stark on MNF. She could be reading a telephone book and my eyes would be glued to the screen.
