Rory was caught saying "**** off" when the horn blew this morning, he'd have much rather played this morning to try to shoot a low one in calmer conditions. Plus a guy of his ilk wouldn't be very fond of going off the 10th tee about the same time the leaders are going off 1.Niiice
The weather has made this major less than ideal, for sure. I respect the "**** off" from Rory, even if a delay was the right call.
Shane Lowry was none too happy with an embeded lie yesterday and had simliar sentiments.
Definitely falls in the "calling in a rules violations because you saw it on TV" category.Lowry's case was an interesting one, he said that when he got to his ball and was talking to the rules official, an ESPN on-course reporter came over and said that Lowry's shot didn't make the pitch mark and instead a previous player's shot did--which would mean no relief, and that was the ruling. That's why Lowry lost his **** and I can kinda sympathize. Makes for a good ethical debate about whether a reporter should be playing referee.

I've gone back and forth on it. Sure, a violation is a violation. But not all players get the same scrutiny. I still don't know what the right call is.
I'm definitely think amateurs should be able to move balls out of divots in the fairway with no penalty. Pros, I'm not so sure, but I can see a case for it.
Pennsylvania golf fans because we get Oakmont next month too. What a year for Philly fans.
PGCC this year……25 minutes away is Aronimink……host of PGA next year.
He might gift it to Stinky for the ambassadorship to Algeria. So if Bryson wins does he take the Wanamaker Trophy to Mar-A-Lago?

Was waiting for this to come up. As others have noted, the rule says it has to have been embedded in its OWN pitch mark. Otherwise, we'd give relief for every fairway divot. As for the reporter's involvement, it's on any good rules official to get the most information possible when they don't witness it first-hand. The reporter reported facts, not opinion. So I'm good with it.The weather has made this major less than ideal, for sure. I respect the "**** off" from Rory, even if a delay was the right call.

The divot thing is definitey a can of worms best not opened at the professional level. Pace of play would be even worse. Was waiting for this to come up. Scottie Scheffler, one helluva finish to take a three-shot lead. He appears to have figured it all out again.
I'm also sick of "Green Mile" the way I'm sick of "Bear Trap."
If there was a drinking game involved we'd all be dead, but it was nice of Nantz on the broadcast to give a shout-out to scribe Ron Green Jr. for coming up with the term.
