I’m old enough to remember the days of Arnie and Jack. Back then golf coverage was 16, 17, 18 and the 15th green. I am always fascinated by majors where you can see how much things can change during a round

Rory was caught saying "**** off" when the horn blew this morning, he'd have much rather played this morning to try to shoot a low one in calmer conditions. Plus a guy of his ilk wouldn't be very fond of going off the 10th tee about the same time the leaders are going off 1.

Shane Lowry was none too happy with an embeded lie yesterday and had simliar sentiments.

Seems like overall low marks for the venue. But the leaderboard definitley looks major-worth right now with Scheffler, Rahm and DeChambeau. Finau lurking too.

Lowry's case was an interesting one, he said that when he got to his ball and was talking to the rules official, an ESPN on-course reporter came over and said that Lowry's shot didn't make the pitch mark and instead a previous player's shot did--which would mean no relief, and that was the ruling. That's why Lowry lost his **** and I can kinda sympathize. Makes for a good ethical debate about whether a reporter should be playing referee.

Yeah, if Lowry wasn't on an ESPN featured group, there wouldn't have been a guy there to butt in.

The divot argument always starts with "what's a divot?" There's the crater that the guy one group ahead left, and the week-old scar that has almost healed. You'd have fistfights in the member-guest. Play it as it lies unless it's a put your hands on your balls day (HEYO).

Was waiting for this to come up. As others have noted, the rule says it has to have been embedded in its OWN pitch mark. Otherwise, we'd give relief for every fairway divot. As for the reporter's involvement, it's on any good rules official to get the most information possible when they don't witness it first-hand. The reporter reported facts, not opinion. So I'm good with it.

The divot thing is definitey a can of worms best not opened at the professional level. Pace of play would be even worse.

I understand some of you might be sick of terms like "The Green Mile," and I know a network can beat something like that into the ground. But it's not a joke, as Bam Bam discovered Saturday.
