I know we had a thread on this a while back, but both pitchers (Lincecum and Webb) have had their ups and downs since then, and now neither team is making the playoffs. Of course, there's also the CC factor and Santana's late rush.

As of this moment:

Webb, 22-7, (.759), 3.24, 176 Ks, 219.1 IP
Lincecum, 17-5 (.773), 2.66, 252 Ks, 220 IP
Sabathia, 10-2 (.833), 1.78, 121 Ks, 121.2 IP
Santana, 15-7, 2.64, (.682), 197 Ks, 225.1 IP

We're just talking about who's no. 1, not who would go on the ballot (since guys like Dempster, Volquez and Hamels might warrant some No. 3 love).

One stat not shown for the Lincecum lovers..

Left game with lead: Lincecum 22, Webb 23.

Re: NL Cy Young -- refresh the debate

Before I thought it was Webb, but now I don't think there's any doubt it's Lincecum--I don't think it matters that he plays for the Giants, those numbers are too good to ignore.

Re: NL Cy Young -- refresh the debate

Why is Santana on the list over Ryan Dempster (17-6, 2.99, 183 Ks in 201.2 IP)?

And I post this knowing full well Dempster will now give up six runs tonight.

I just put Santana on there since he's the ERA leader. Neither Santana nor Dempster has a chance to win.

If the Mets had a bullpen, Santana would win.

Salient point. The man has the best era of all of 'em. If their 'pen hadn't blown (what-6 or 7?) his leads so much, he'd have the wins to match.

Re: NL Cy Young -- refresh the debate

Lincecum, anyone who can win any games with that team trying to get runs is a helluva pitcher

Re: NL Cy Young -- refresh the debate

I second Lidge.

He's been perfect. What else can you ask for?

More than 67.1 innings?

No way a closer should get the Cy Young when there are deserving starting pitchers. Lidge should be no higher than fifth in the voting, after Lincecum, Santana, Sabathia and Webb.

Garb-lidge is perfect this season? Seriously?

Holy ****.

I had no idea.

What, is he 4-for-4 on save opportunities?

40-for-40

Ridiculous comment.

No one has a chance to win other than Lincecum.

Why is there a poll, then.

Re: NL Cy Young -- refresh the debate

I think Webb, Lincecum and CC are the only candidates with a real chance, and CC is borderline. I just figured there's no harm in putting the ERA leader on there.

Simon do you believe someone else could win or are you just being a smartass?
