Obstructed view seats are for the baseball purists who like it "old school."

Perhaps the Yankees can install flat screens on the beams.

Have fun with views like this at your new stadium, Yankee fans.

I did not realize that the new stadium was also set up for football.

That's Lucas Oil Stadium.

I used to snag obstructed view seats at the Boston Garden. You could get them for $10 and then head all the way to rafters and watch the Bruins from the SRO area, usually the corner concession stands.

That was the way to watch the game.

I have fond memories of sitting up in "the heaven" watching the Dave Cowens era Celtics

Rhetorical, right?

My Yankees fan best friend and I sat in those seats for a Subway Series game in 2005. Kaz Matsui bunted home the game winning run and my pal had to hear my mouth for the rest of the day.

Good times. Great memories.

Love those seats.

How the **** do you actually sit there? You straddle the pole? You have to pay to sit there?

Put my size 13s on the pole while fidgeting to see what was going on. Better to sit there than the godforsaken upper deck. At Shea, if you're in the upper deck, you can make good money landing planes at LaGuardia.

As for the seat, didn't have to pay. My Yankee fan friend had a friend who had season ducats at Shea. She had extras for that game and asked my buddy if he knew anyone who wanted to go. He couldn't say yes fast enough.

So...she owns that seat all season?

Nope. She owns (owns uh...owns uh...) field box seats maybe five rows behind the visiting dugout. Caught a Twins-Mets game (I think) from those seats.

From what I remember, my friend said that his friend was allowed to buy extra ducats for the Subway Series because she was (and I think still is) a season ticket holder.

Ah. So they just pawn off the obstructed-view seats on people who are most likely just gonna give them to someone else anyway. I guess that kinda makes sense, in a weird way. Like you said, free seats is free seats.

On a tangent, but...

About six years ago, I finally had a chance to make it to Wrigley Field, so I bought tickets and a buddy and I flew out there. He met his brother-in-law out in Chicago, who took it upon himself to sell my tickets and buy three together in another section.

Those seats? Behind a pole.

That was my first experience with obstructed-view seats. It will be my last (and my last experience with that guy, too).

Uh yeah, we know, which is why it said views LIKE THESE, not this actual view.

Well, Mr. Burns had done it.
The power plant had won it.
With Roger Clemens clucking
all the while.
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness
made us smile.
While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on
the barroom tile.

We're talkin'...
Softball.
From Maine to San Diego.
Talking'...
Softball.
Mattingly and Canseco.
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw.
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law.
We're talkin' Homer...
Ozzie, and the Straw.
