There's no way the Nuggets go after Artest, is there?

Iverson
Anthony
Martin
Camby
JR Smith

Talent- Very much
Sanity- Not very much

Good move by the Spurs getting Kurt Thomas. Despite other teams getting better I still think they're the team to beat.

Why is the NBA deadline so early? The NHL starts well before, and is closer to the end of its season, yet its trade deadline is after the NBA's.

But you're not giving teams adequate time to work out whether they are sellers at the deadline. There's still 30 games left in the season. There are only two teams in the East who are definitely out of it, and four in the West.

There's word of a possible Rockets trade with New Orleans. Houston would supposedly send Bonzi Wells and Mike James in return for, I believe, Bobby Jackson.

To make trades as difficult to make and rare as possible - just like the cap.

It's still not near as early as the NFL's, which is after the first month.

I think that's a good thing. That way, teams aren't selling off absolutely everything at the last possible moment for a jacked-up, big-name battle in the playoffs (unless you're the Grizzlies).

When everyone theoretically has a chance to compete, it's good for the league, contrary to what the old-timers in New York/Boston/Chicago/Los Angeles/Philadelphia might want you to think.

What are you going to do? It is what it is. Baseball's is almost two months before the end of the regular season. A lot can change in that time. Just ask the Mets.

From ESPN -

The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have beaten the NBA's annual trade buzzer to get LeBron James some of the fresh help he's been openly craving.

In a three-way trade with Chicago and Seattle that has been submitted for league approval, NBA front-office sources say that Cleveland will come away with four new teammates for James, headlined by Ben Wallace from the Bulls and sharpshooter Wally Szczerbiak from the Sonics.

The league office was notified of the deal before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trading deadline, sources said, and is currently reviewing the trade details as required for formal approval.

After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls.

The Bulls, apparently abandoning their gamble on Wallace less than two seasons into the lucrative four-year deal they used to sign him away from Detroit, would get Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden and swingman Larry Hughes along with Cavs reserves Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown.

The Sonics, shedding Szczerbiak in the name of additional payroll flexibility, come away with the expiring contracts of Cleveland's Ira Newble and Chicago's Adrian Griffin as well as Cavs veteran Donyell Marshall.

This gives LeBron two shooters and a little more defense inside. I like West as a Cav as well. IMHO, Cleveland just got a lot better.

Does this just kill any chance of the Cavs resigning James? Money wise, they added some bad contracts.

I don't like them losing Gooden for Wallace. Big Ben's ineptitude on the offensive end isn't enough to make up for his defense as the Bulls found out. Bet you Chicago was glad to dump him.

I like them picking up Delonte West.

Ben Wallace and Wally Sczerbiak.

That's the best they could get to help LeBron?

1. They missed by not trading for Kidd.

2. They missed big-time by not trading for Bibby.

Once again Cleveland makes another futile attempt to compete in the East. Dumping a better version of Ben Wallace (Drew Gooden) for Ben Wallace, and picking up Wally "my ankle hurts and I like to whine" Sczerbiak basically to replace Larry "my ankle hurts and I like to whine" Hughes.

Nice.

Consider last year's Finals appearance a gift Cleveland, and do us all a favor ... Just go away. LeBron is going to bail ASAP and you'll be right back where you belong ... in the cheap cellar.

OK, I'm confused which happens a lot.

As above, I think.
It is a three-way trade? Or is it one team making two two-way trades?

Griffin goes to the Sonics from the Bulls. That very thin thread makes it a three way.

I like the Cavs getting Smith. He can hit the mid-range when needed, right?

Wow, that is some venom. Pistons fan? Game 5 attendee, perhaps?
