Sitting behind an iMac. Why?
Miss the original VJs? Wish MTV still showed videos? Then I've got the link for you.

Three hours of MTV from 1983 including videos, commercials and Mark Goodman ...

Cool. Seconds in, I see the list of dates for the Synchronicity II tour and the concert I was at in Biloxi.

I remember pitching a minor fit when MTV decided to do "Friday Night Fights," where they play two videos and you dial in and vote for the best.

That was even before they started showing commercials.

Good times.

I remember when it started.

Martha Quinn ... yum.

How many times have I seen or heard "Sledgehammer" and "Hungry Like the Wolf?" in my life? Too many.

I saw this on an other board, the commercial for the Neil Young and the Shocking Pinks contest cracked me up the most. Also, I never realized at the time how boring Mark Goodman was.

That's because you were five ****ing years old in '83!

Time for the big people to watch MTV, you go watch GoBots or something. :D

I was going to go to that Nov. 27 Police show at the UNIdome but there was a huge snowstorm that weekend and my folks wouldn't let me go.

The Go-Bots cartoon didn't debut until '84, jerkass :D

Christ. I'm sitting here trying to watch Human League and you're throwing GoBots' debut dates at me? Did you really write that? You documented on a major national message board that you possess that knowledge?

Don't make me burn your teddy bear on the stove burner, nerdboy. It might be 25 years later, but I still think his ass isn't crispy enough. :D

I looked it up on Wikipedia, I never really watched the Go-Bots anyway. I don't think there's anything left of that teddy bear to burn, but thanks for bringing up one of the most traumatic experiences of my childhood, jerkass! :D

This is phenomenal -- well, except that I now have to find three hours to watch it.

SJ should know that the aforementioned bear, Michael, was the bomb. He wasn't as cool as Archie the Armadillo or my bear, Abercrombie, but cool nonetheless.

I fully admit I was a total **** for burning his bear's ass and that I scarred Z-Man for life. I had issues as a misbegoten youth. Didn't I burn a couple of G.I. Joe's you had taken out of circulation?

The Police played in Iowa?!

Gotta run ... 1-800-HOT-ROCK is awaiting my order. :D

Dude, the Stones played in Iowa about a year or two before The Police.

It was like '81 or '82, long before the soulless ****s at Ticketmaster walked the Earth. Ticket sales were announced as follows:

DJ on 95 KGGO in Des Moines interrupts a song "THE STONES ARE COMING TO DES MOINES!!! TICKETS ARE ON SALE AT VETS (auditorium) NOW!!!!!

People who were driving by Vets during the announcement were actually abandoning their vehicles in the middle of the road and sprinting up to the ticket windows.

good times...good times...
