Last week, it was kids kicked off a team because the coach didn't like their practice t-shirts.
This week, it's a coach being fired because some of his athletes (male athletes) were running shirtless on a warm day.
And the AD in this story, Karl Fogel, isn't he the guy who replaced Jim Calhoun at Northeastern?

Westwood High School boys track coach Tom Davis was fired and escorted off the property at the high school on Friday.

For ****'s sake, fire him if you really want to (it's stupid, but whatevs). But escort him off the property? That's full of stupid.

In high school, guys on occasion ran shirtless during track/x-country practices. Even sometimes in soccer practices.

Gotta say, smallpotatoes, your area specializes in a whole lotta stupid.

It seems like once a week I'm typing the same sentence — that's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard — and it fits here.

IN MYYYYYY DAYYYYYYY, the gym teachers/coaches were absolutely insistent that all boys, even the flabby bouncy ones (whom nobody of any gender wanted to see with shirts off), had to take turns as "skins" in gym class.

Of course this was back in the days when showers were utterly mandatory after gym classes/athletic events, too.

Better than the creepy guy allowed to run with us on the cross country team who didn't wear underwear underneath his shorts. I was lucky I never had to see his balls, but some of the girls got a glimpse they'll never get out of their heads.

Hmmmm. Even back in my HS days of the swinging Seventies, I think somebody would have blown a whistle on that **** at our school.

Follow up story was posted a bit ago.

“While I cannot discuss the specifics of a confidential personnel matter, I can assure you that Friday’s decision to relieve Mr. Davis of his duties was not the result of a single incident, but rather the regrettable outcome of an on-going discussion. It is my responsibility to ensure that our employees implement programs in a way that is consistent with the overall mission of the Westwood Public Schools," Atonucci said in his statement.

Antonucci prefaced his statement by saying the media had "no factual information" about the "Westwood Public School personnel matter."

Atonucci is digging a bigger hole. He acted badly but I won't say how, oh and btw all you media are dumb.

My guess is he confronted the coach on the shirt issue and the coach laughed him off and told him it was stupid. The coach was then fired for disrespect. Atonucci's pee-pee got hurt so he fired him.

Do the boys on the swim team have to have shirts on, too?

(I know that there are very few schools with swim teams)

That is my take on the guys statement. I was summing up what he said. The media part is the second paragraph where he makes it a point to tell the media they have "no factual information."
