I'd guess Reyes would start for the Cards in game 1? Or would they bring back Weaver on short rest?

My guess:

Reyes in Game 1.
Weaver in Game 2.
Carpenter not 'til Game 3. :o
Suppan not 'til Game 4. :o

How are the Tigers going to go? Rogers, Verlander, Bonderman, Robertson?

Tigers in 5.
I'd go Rogers in Game 2 so he doesn't pitch on the road.

I think you go Weaver and Carpenter on short rest so that they can pitch twice if needed.

They're already going to be able to pitch twice. Suppan is the only one that won't, but he can be used in Game 7 in relief, if needed.

Carpenter can go full rest in Game 3, and then full rest in Game 7, if needed.

Weaver's certainly not going to be moved up to Game 1, so he'll be at full rest in Game 2. You can bump him up for Game 5, if you're down 3-1, but if the series is tied or you have a lead, I'd stick with Reyes.

You may be right.... but Weaver pitched great on short rest last time out.

Reyes is a disaster.

George should try to win something this century. Nah, that's not true. I want to see what he pulls after the Mets win the Series. What's left? Dying?

Where's CaptainCrunch now?

Nah, he's your "ace." He should get the opener.

If he can't win a Game 5 at Busch, then he can go **** himself. On camera.
You can intone all that "**** you" bravado.... but I would make sure Rogers had that crowd and that energy twice if my job is to maximize my team's chances to win the series.

Yes, the Mets lost. In Game 7 of the NLCS.

How'd your Brewers do? Did they make the playoffs?

That's right. They didn't.

That's OK. Just as long as your precious Mets lose to a team from bumble****, flyover country, I'm a happy camper.

Find HB and spirited and y'all can cry in your sophisticated rally towels over the winter.

Kevin Kennedy guessed that Weaver would throw Game 1 for the Cards.

Seems like it'd be smartest to throw Reyes in game 1 tho.

I think Rogers definitely goes in game 1. Also to consider, he may be the Tigers' best hitting pitcher. So if he pitched game 1, he would go in game 5 in St. Louis and be in there to hit.

Not scrolling back so this may have been covered.
That last pitch was as good as I've seen. Big balls pitch. I like that kid.

If Rolen is about to get hot, that would be big.

It would also be a miracle. On the plus side, it's guaranteed he can't LOWER his World Series batting average of .000 (0-for-15).

Jason Marquis in Game 1?

He sucks, but he's rested. He's also probably pissed off from being left off of the rosters for the NLDS and NLCS and can be pitching for a contract next season.

You're pathetic. You'll take season upon season of mediocre baseball if a New York team doesn't win. I hope this makes you feel warm and fuzzy at night next season, when the Mets are in the playoffs and the Brewers finish under .500 again.

Big balls, my ass. 0-2, Beltran's got to be swinging. For ****'s sake, he's a first-pitch fastball hitter, and he got a first-pitch fastball. What does he do? Looks at it. Swing the ****ing bat!

Is it an all-time first if I agree with everything you just said?

Ask me if I give half a ****...

Look, it's easy to say he shoulda swung from way out here.

But the guy got tricked. It happens. I'm just glad it happened.

If you want to get all angry about the loss, don't blame Beltran, who was a stud for much of the series. Blame Trachsel for spitting the bit in Game Three...or Willie for his mismanagement of the pen in Game Two...or Wagner for blowing Game Two...the list GOES ON AND ON AND ON!!!!!!!!!

oh and as a reminder!

The Mets are ABSOLUTELY not winning the NLCS. I'll be surprised if they get to the NLCS.

I don't care how many ****ing moves they make between today and Monday, they are not winning the LCS. Bank it. Book it. Et cetera.

:D ;D ;D :D :D ;D

suck it!!!!

To answer someone's question, Terrence Long struck out looking a few years ago to end an Oakland-Boston series. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think it was 2004.

I am constantly amazed at the number of pitchers who thrive in the National League and can't keep the ball inside of 450 feet in the American. Suppan goes 51-61 in his AL career, only once with an ERA below 4.50 (4.37 in 2001), gets traded to Pittsburgh in 2003, and since then is 54-33. (In the interests of full disclosure, he did go 1-7 for Arizona as a 23-year-old in 1998.) His highest ERA since moving to the NL for good is 4.16.

Apparently, both Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux told other players they would never go to the American League for any reason. They knew they'd get killed. (I'm not a guy who believes in superiority for one league over the other, but I find it to be an amazing discrepancy.)

And how about Scott Rolen walking away from Chris Myers?

Oh no, Beltran gets some blame. You sign a $119 million contract because of your bat, you get blamed for striking out in the bottom of the ninth of Game 7 of the NLCS with the bases loaded and your team down by two runs. Fact o' ****ing life.

So I've missed all the fun and games tonight because I couldn't log in from work.

Despite the outcome, that was a great ****ing game to watch.
The Mets loss doesn't bother me all that much.
Losing a bet to the cocksuckingmother****ingsonofabitchpieceof****scumbagasshole dickhead.... well that's another story.

Leyland has got to set it up so Rogers goes Games 2 and 6. Why mess with Rogers' home-field mojo?

And BYH, why would Beltran have been fooled by an 0-2 curveball? That's Wainright's money pitch, and he sure as hell wasn't gonna give him a fastball to yank out of the park.

VERY bad AB by a normally clutch performer: Looks at a grooved, 84 mph nothing ball for a strike, takes a bad hack at a curve out of the zone, and then looks at strike 3.
