I remember some consternation around here whether the critter depicted in the Minnesota Wild logo was a bear or some sort of big cat.

Well, turns out the team itself isn't quite sure. Meet Nordy.

Nordy himself has no idea whether he's a bearcat or a prehistoric wombat. Nor does he know the meaning or origin of the disturbing rune on his forehead. One thing's sure, though. He's Wild.
Oh well. If it makes a few sick kids at a children's hospital happy, I don't begrudge the Wild their truly goofy new mascot, even if it is Fail on Ice.

That's awesome.
Needs a tounge to pull off though.

The rest of you start thinking up a name for this funky mascot. I dunno, something along the line of say...Nordy, only more proactive.

I have no idea what possessed the Wild to do this. I already have two Minnesota Wild beanie bears - and they LOOK like bears.

I don't need to purchase a third, uh, whatever it is.

DH, I forgot all about that cartoon, and it's eerie how much the new mascot resembles the Hair Bears.

And I still say the Wild logo resembles a panther.

Thank goodness Rosie voiced her lack of approval. Now I can echo my WTF moment without being sent to my room. ;D

If it makes the Wild fans feel any better, when the Whalercanes debuted Stormy a decade ago, they found him passed out in the Zamboni. Nice beginning. :P
