Successful Warroad High School (city's just south of the Canadian border) girls hockey coach had accusations of sexual harassment and hazing brought against him last year by a small group of player parents.
School investigates, finds no evidence, takes no action. Parents are displeased with that, so they go public with accusations, and coach files suit against them.
Parents have settled the suit, and have had to admit the accusations were false, apparently made to discredit him and get him fired. Five of the six named in the suit admit they signed the statement without verifying the facts, and the sixth did not admit to making the statements and said she didn't write the letter, but she's the only one who has to pay the coach his $17,000 in damages.
I know sports parents can be nuts, but this really goes beyond. Good job by the reporter above, but I sure would like someone to take a deep dive on this as far as how this came to be, and why?
