From The Pipeline:

The Pine Bluff (Ark.) Commercial laid off its managing editor today in a cost-cutting move. The publisher will now fill both roles.
 
Trouble is that crap rises only just so far, it seems.

The Hawaii properties must not be turning enough profit.
 
I keep waiting for a publisher to lay himself off. that would save a ton at most places and nobody in the newsroom would realize for at least a month.

i know one in particular on i-65 that I would like to see go.
 
just publishers in general. Even though I've worked for some really good ones, let's face it, you could probably save, on average at smaller papers, three FTEs for every publisher.
