Haven't seen it yet, but am very interested in the views of those who have. Reviews seem to be saying "it sucks, but you'll enjoy it."

It has Amanda Seyfried in it, hence I'd like to see it.

I enjoyed the play, a shock since I don't much enjoy ABBA.
The Queen wants to see the movie but she's off on a girls weekend so I don't have to suck it up this weekend.

The play is awesome (and I do like Abba music). I think the bigger "stage" a movie affords will dissipate the constant surge of energy the play provides

I thought Hairspray would be that way, dools, but it worked on film. So maybe it will work here.

The reviewer at my old joint did not have kind things to say about the movie or Brosnan's singing.

Yeah, the reviews I have seen panned the hell out of the males. Sounds like Gere in the movie version of Chicago.

My mom and I will probably go to see this when we're in Montana next week. ABBA was about all we could agree on when we were driving to Arkansas the night my grandfather died.

Isn't that reviewer the ******* who doesn't like anything?

He's not a *******. He's a terrific guy. Very funny. Very generous. A Reds fan but I'll look past that.
But, yeah, he doesn't like too many movies.

I'll see it. But how can you cast for the movie and not get people who can sing?

Yeah, I guess I didn't mean ******* in the personal sense. I've never met the guy. I've just not heard good things about his opinions.

Well, he has them. Lots of them. He isn't shy.
But he is seriously one hell of a good guy.

It originally worked on film back in 1988, moddy...

FWIW-the original blew the sequel out of the water.

I really enjoyed Hairspray and The Producers films in recent years, but I'm going to wait for this one to come to HBO in a few months.

Shouldn't she be seeing Mamma Mia on the girls weekend?

That was also before it was a musical. That being said, I enjoyed the new Hairspray a lot more than the John Waters version.

I went and saw Mamma Mia this afternoon (mostly because I didn't want to fight the crowds at The Dark Knight) and liked it. It was funny where it needed to be, serious where it needed to be. There was something left to be desired when it came to most of the male singing voices but the women who sang in the movie were phenomenal.

I thought it was decent and I'll definitely see it again. I just thought it lost a little steam as it got to the end.

Then again, the play lost steam toward the end, until the postscript, that is, when the three-song burst brought the house down.

No, this is a dawdle at the river weekend.
