No longer the big city
Friday is not going to be fun. As some of you may know, my son has been fairly sick for most of his 2-plus years. Nothing major. Tubes in his ears twice. Lot of hacking, coughing, weezing, etc. We thought it was a milk allergy. Hasn't been officially diagnosed with it yet, but he does have an immune deficiency.

Wednesday, we went for a meeting with a specialist. We told the doc about his disgusting diapers. He was producing crap that even I couldn't match in the stench department. He's been eating fine but has actually lost a pound in the last couple months. And he still is having breathing issues.

Friday, he's getting tested for cystic fibrosis. He matches a lot of the symptoms. If he has it, at least we can start mapping out stuff, but it also basically means that the chances of me outliving him go from 95-5 his favor to 50-50 with a life expectancy of 37.

I was scared before his tubes in his ears. This doesn't scare me. It makes me cry, which I have already. My boy deserves better than this.

All the best King.

I'm going through my own nightmare with my Dad.

It's so much different when it's your son.

As the father of a little boy myself, I can't imagine what you're going through. You and your son are in my prayers.

Sorry to hear that, creole.

My prayers are with you and your family.

I've had two friends who recently had their baby boys tested for CF, and thankfully both turned up negative.

I hope it's not CF, but I also hope they find out what it is, and soon.

Echoing the thoughts of others here, Creole. Hope that it's not CF, but rather something much more short-term.
