Linney's good, and Tom Wilkinson is terrific. Jefferson looked extremely stoned through the whole thing.

I am not sure about this yet. The cinematography is stunning and they nailed the period. It ran a little dry for me.

Man, do I have a thing for Laura Linney, though. I understand that Abigail Adams was the dish of her times, but let's face it, those pictures of her are not doing much for most of us. Laura Linney, though, is a ridiculously handsome woman who just seems like she would be a dream to spend time with. (Please don't destroy that with bad stories).

Funny - McCullough was awed the first time he saw Morse in full dress as Washington because he thought the actor was spot on.

I made it halfway through the second episode before falling asleep (it was 2:30 a.m.). I didn't dislike it.

That was my impression from the first half hour. This seemed a little boring to me, too.

Is it worth another hour of my time? Does the pace pick up a little?

Somehow I am reminded of the Cheers episode where Frasier reads the barflys works from Dickens.

Frasier: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" [barflys get bored and attention wanes]

Frasier: "Then Bonzo the killer clown appeared with hands steeped in blood" [everyone sits up in rapt attention]

You seem to be looking for clowns with hands steeped in blood. Sorry - no Tokyo Drift car chases in the 18th century.

I think you're both saying the same thing. And I agree.

We were both saying the same thing. I found it amusing that he had the exact same reaction seeing Morse in costume that McCullough did.

I love history, but I just want the pacing of the program to be a little quicker.

I'm also not a big fan of straining my ears to hear dialogue or squinting to figure out what is happening because it is so dark in the shot.

I'm also noticing that this thread has nothing about the actions of the characters, but a ton on how they were dressed or how they look.

I thought the opening court sequence was interesting, and it did set up for me the strife between the two nations, but it just was not drawing me in to watch more.
