Actually, he might start the year at no. 1. But the arrogant ass will be on his, uhh, ass by week five.

From all accounts, Chad will be the defacto No. 1.

He's worked hard following shoulder surgery. According to reports, he can almost complete a 10-yard out. Patrick Ramsey has been hit-or-miss. The Jets are impressed with his arm strength, however his penchant for throwing the ball to guys wearing different colored jersey isn't seen as a positive. Rookie QB Kellen Clemens will sit and watch, as the Jets don't want him to be massacred before his time. The Jets, as a token of their appreciation for the job he did last year, gave Brooks Bollinger an all-expenses paid cab ride to the Nassau Coliseum, home of the Arena Football League's New York Dragons.

Three wins? Ha! Who's pathetic enough to lose to this team?

(In order of probability) Home vs. Lions OR Bills OR Oakland OR Houston OR at Tennessee

Bills, Raiders, Lions and Texans all have more offensive talent than the Jets do. Those games should be losses. The season opener in Tennessee should be a win.

On neutral fields, I would agree with you.

Have you been to Giants Stadium for Jets' games? Those fans know something bad will happen to the Jets. It's akin to being a Cubs fan or a Cleveland fan or a Boston Red Sox fan before 2004. It's the self-fulfilling prophecy. If you believe something bad is going to happen, it will.

I guess if ARod were playing for the Jets... I might see your point.

It was a tad whiny -- but readers should have been told why their No. 1 draft pick had nothing to say on the first day of camp.

I will be shocked if Pennington makes it to midseason as the starter. He's a holdover from the old regime (actually, he was selected two regimes ago) and he had a rep as the kissass teacher's pet. You know Mangini doesn't want anything to do with that. Plus, Mangini has kicked his ass six ways to Sunday the last few years with the Patriots. He knows his weaknesses, why would he want him lining up behind center?

****, if the Lions could go witih Charlie Batch in week three in 1998, the Jets sure could go with Kellen Clemens around the same time.

I don't think the Jets will finish with a worse record than last year, though. Just a hunch. They'll be god-awful in the first half and OK in the second...they'll win four or five games.

If Pennington is replace at any point this season, Patrick Ramsey gets the call. The only way Clemens plays is if Pennington, Ramsey, Bollinger, Vinny, Ken O'Brien, Namath, yours truly and Anthony from Ozone Park all go down with injuries.

What about Richard Todd, Matt Robinson and Pat Ryan?
