Of course there is no comparison.

We fought in World War II for less than 4 years.

100 years from now, we'll still be fighting a counterinsurgency in Iraq.

Or so it seems.

Germany and Japan could/did surrender. Terrorists will never surrender.

And the ignorance of history is rampant.   The majority of the righties here would be well-served by doing some serious
background reading on 20th-century American foreign policy . . . then get back to us.   Contrary to the belief of many,
Ronnie Rayguns was NOT the first POTUS . . . ciao . . .

He wasn't? He didn't chop down a cherry tree when he was a kid?

I don't know how many here have read the brilliant "Paris 1919" by Margaret MacMillan but that book is a good start to understanding the foundation of 20th century global politics.

Yes, and Woodrow Wilson's idea is still a damn good one. If everyone would stop being so ****ing selfish. Dammit. >:(

True enough.

So the war never ends, then?

$2 billion every week into Iraq . . . forever?

Halliburton likes it.

Hey, George Washington never co-starred with Bonzo. How hip could he have been?
